Mortal Kombat theme figure skating routine at Winter Olympic 2026
Figure skating at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games ended on Saturday night with the traditional exhibition gala. This special event allows skaters to perform freely. They do not compete for medals. Instead, they perform for the audience, and the routines are not judged by officials.
The pair representing Georgia, Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava, impressed the crowd with a very unique performance. Their routine combined the strong and intense style of video games with the soft romance of 1980s music.
In the first part of their performance, the ice rink became like a battle arena. They skated to “Techno Syndrome,” the famous theme from the video game Mortal Kombat. Their choreography was powerful and full of energy. They performed fast and synchronized movements that showed strength and control. Their costumes also reminded viewers of characters like Kitana and Sub-Zero from the game.
The performance then changed smoothly into something completely different. The music moved to “True” by Spandau Ballet. This song is a well-known romantic ballad from the 1980s. The pair changed their style from strong and intense to soft and emotional. This transition showed not only their technical skill but also their artistic ability. The audience responded warmly to the emotional connection in the second half of the routine.
While videos of the full gala performance are still being uploaded online, some Olympic viewers said that Metelkina and Berulava had performed the same routine beforea month ago.
Beyond the gala show, Metelkina and Berulava made history at these Olympic Games. They won the silver medal in the pairs figure skating event. This is the first Winter Olympic medal ever won by Georgia.
Their success began with a strong short program. They scored 75.46 points, which placed them in second position. In the free skate, they performed at a high level again and received 146.29 points. Their total score was 221.75 points, which secured the silver medal.
The gold medal was won by Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara of Japan, who earned 231.24 points. The bronze medal went to Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin of Germany, who scored 219.09 points.
For Georgia, this silver medal is a very important achievement. It marks the first time the country has won a medal at a Winter Olympic Games. Metelkina and Berulava have now become part of their nation’s sports history.
Their exciting gala performance, mixing video game action and 1980s romance, was a perfect way to celebrate their historic Olympic success.
