New Evidence Suggests Monster Hunter Wilds Is Coming to Switch 2

Fans believe they have found the strongest evidence so far that Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on Nintendo Switch 2.

Earlier this year, dataminers found possible signs of a Switch 2 version in a January PC update. They discovered references to the console in the game’s files. These included text strings related to wireless multiplayer features for Switch 2.

Now, after the game’s latest large update, players searching through the files have found even more evidence. According to reports on Reddit, a tutorial image showing Switch 2 local multiplayer was included in the update files. This image is seen as strong proof that a Switch 2 version is being prepared.

However, the same Reddit post also claims that the newest update removed the earlier text strings related to Switch 2 features, such as wireless communication support.

The earlier datamine also reportedly included graphics presets for the unannounced Switch 2 version. These presets suggested that the game could run at 1080p resolution while docked. It was also suggested that the visual quality would be better than the “very low” graphics preset available on PC.

Capcom has already shown strong support for Nintendo Switch 2. The company has released Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess on the platform. It has also announced more future titles, including several Resident Evil ports, Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and the next Mega Man game.

In the past, the Monster Hunter series has been very successful on Nintendo consoles, especially in Japan, which is Capcom’s home country.

In a previous interview in September, members of the Resident Evil Requiem development team spoke about working with Switch 2 hardware. Producer Masato Kumazawa said the team was impressed with how easy it was to bring their game to the platform.

“When we got the Switch 2 hardware, we were surprised in a good way about how smooth the process was for us to bring the existing development version of the game to that platform,” he said.

“It just made sense that we felt that we don’t need to wait on this one or do a separate project after the main game, we can just bring the main game to this hardware immediately.”

While Capcom has not officially announced a Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds, the growing number of clues found in recent updates has made many fans believe that an announcement could happen in the future.
