Avowed Launches on PS5 With Anniversary Update and New Features
Avowed is now available on PlayStation 5. At the same time, the game has received a large “anniversary update” called version 2.0.
This update celebrates one year since the game first launched on Xbox Series X/S and PC. The new patch adds many features that players have requested.
One of the biggest new features is New Game+. This mode allows players to replay the story while keeping many things from their previous playthrough. It is useful for players who want to try different story choices without creating a completely new character from the beginning.
According to Obsidian, players who start New Game+ will keep most of their progress. This includes all unlocked abilities, except for Godlike abilities, which are connected to story progression. Players also keep all spent attribute points, all unique weapons and armor (these are reset to level 1), and all currently equipped common weapons and armor items.
To keep the game challenging in New Game+, enemy strength has been increased. Enemies now also have a chance to gain elemental or physical modifiers, which makes battles more difficult.
Because Avowed was not originally designed with New Game+ in mind, players who have already finished the game need to reload a late-game save file and complete the final part again. This will create a special completion save file that can be used to start New Game+.
The anniversary update also adds three new playable species. In addition to Humans and Elves, players can now choose Dwarves, Orlans, and Aumaua.
Other new features include custom difficulty modifiers, which allow players to adjust the challenge level in more detail. A new Quarterstaff weapon type has also been added. In addition, the update introduces a new photo mode and several quality-of-life improvements.
The full patch notes are available on Obsidian’s official forum for players who want detailed information about every change.
With its release on PlayStation 5 and the addition of major new features, Avowed now offers both new and returning players more ways to experience its story and world.
