Solid Snake Joins Rainbow Six Siege in Operation Silent Hunt [1]
Ubisoft has announced a major collaboration between Rainbow Six Siege and the Metal Gear Solid series.
Solid Snake will become a permanent, playable Operator when Operation Silent Hunt launches on March 3.
Solid Snake is known as a legendary stealth soldier. In Siege, he will use a special gadget called the Soliton Radar MKIII and a unique ability called On-Site Procurement (OSP). These skills make him strong at finding enemies and adapting during battle.
The collaboration also includes themed content. The Operation Silent Hunt Battle Pass will unlock Solid Snake immediately at the start of the season. It will also include Metal Gear Solid cosmetic items, such as a Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke.
Later in the season, a limited-time [REDACTED] event will add a new game mode, more themed outfits, and a team-up between Solid Snake and Sam Fisher, also known as Zero in Siege.
Solid Snake’s Gadget: Soliton Radar MKIII
The Soliton Radar MKIII is a handheld device. It shows the floor plan of the area around Solid Snake and detects enemies nearby.
The radar only works on the floor Snake is currently on and connected staircases. On the radar screen:
- Dotted walls mean soft walls that can be destroyed.
- Striped floors also mean soft surfaces.
- The radar uses colors:
- Green (“All Clear”) – No enemies detected. However, enemies may still hide using special abilities.
- Yellow – An active CCTV camera is being watched by defenders.
- Red (“Alert”) – One or more enemies are active in the scanned area.
Snake can activate precision mode. In this mode, the radar shows enemy position icons and their vision cones in real time. This gives very strong information to help with solo attacks or team strategies. However, precision mode has limited charges and a cooldown timer.
How Defenders Can Counter the Radar
Defenders are warned when Snake detects them. This allows them to move or attack while Snake is looking at his device.
Some Operators can trick or block the radar:
- Alibi’s Prisma holograms appear as real Operators on the radar.
- Vigil’s Electronic Rendering Cloak hides him from detection.
- Mute’s jammers block the radar signal inside their area.
Also, Snake’s radar only detects default cameras. Special camera gadgets from Operators like Valkyrie, Maestro, Echo, Mozzie, or Skopós will not appear if Snake only relies on his radar.
On-Site Procurement (OSP) Ability
Solid Snake’s second special skill is On-Site Procurement (OSP).
Most Operators start with several secondary gadgets. Snake is different. He can carry up to five types:
- Frag grenades
- Stun grenades
- Smoke grenades
- Impact EMPs
- Breach charges
However, he starts with only one item.
When an Operator is eliminated (except by team kill), they drop a utility pouch. Snake can collect it and choose which gadget slot to fill. He can only carry one of each type, but this system lets him adapt during the round.
For example:
- If he needs to destroy electronic defenses, he can pick up an impact EMP.
- If he used a grenade earlier, he can refill it from a dropped pouch.
This makes Snake very flexible and unpredictable.
Solid Snake’s Weapons
Solid Snake has two primary weapon choices:
- PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle
- F2 assault rifle
The F2 is known for strong recoil. In Operation Silent Hunt, it will receive an update. Players can equip grip attachments such as horizontal grip, angled grip, and vertical grip.
Snake also introduces a new secondary weapon, the TACIT .45 pistol. It has a built-in suppressor and reflex sight. This allows quiet elimination of enemy gadgets and enemies.
The [REDACTED] Event
A few weeks after Operation Silent Hunt begins, the limited-time [REDACTED] event will start.
In this event:
- Solid Snake teams up with Zero (Sam Fisher).
- A new 4v4 infiltration mode will be available.
- The map is a modified version of Nighthaven Labs inspired by a classic Metal Gear Solid location.
New cosmetics will also appear:
- Jackal as Gray Fox
- Ash as Meryl
Other Updates in Operation Silent Hunt
When Operation Silent Hunt launches on March 3, several maps will be updated:
- Villa
- Coastline
- Oregon
This season will also be the final season for the 6v6 mode, Dual Front.
There are also many balancing changes:
- Skopós becomes a 3-speed Operator, with faster shell switching and more soft destruction power.
- Ela’s Grzmot mines will concuss enemies longer.
- Amaru gets one extra Garra Hook charge.
- Alibi’s Prisma decoys will ping one extra time, and the final ping lasts longer.
- Observation Blockers deploy faster.
- Flores can equip the T-95 LSW LMG.
- Shield users cannot bash through full-health barricades anymore (except Blackbeard).
Operation Silent Hunt adds a major crossover and many gameplay updates. With Solid Snake joining Siege permanently, this season brings strong stealth mechanics and new strategy options for players.
