The director of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has teased big surprises for the game’s future content.

Since the game launched in September, Sega has added many free crossover characters. These include Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona, Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon, and NiGHTS.

Paid Season Pass content has also added SpongeBob SquarePants and Minecraft-themed content. More paid content is planned this year, based on Pac-Man, Mega Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Avatar Legends.

Sega has confirmed that more free characters will arrive in 2026. Speaking to Famitsu, director Masaru Kohayakawa said players can expect even bigger surprises.

“We plan to deliver content throughout the 2026 season, but we’ve also prepared even more surprises than at launch,” he said. He added that Sega wants to make this “a year that surprises you all!”

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was released last month. Players who own the original Switch version can upgrade for a fee.

Sega says it will continue to support the game with new characters and content throughout this year and into 2026.
