Global Games Revenue Expected to Grow 7.5% in 2025, Reaching $197 Billion
Global video game revenue is expected to reach $197 billion in 2025. This would be a 7.5% increase compared to last year.
The forecast comes from a new report by market research company Newzoo. While final 2025 sales are not confirmed yet, the report uses data from January to November 2025 to predict full-year results.
According to Newzoo, console gaming is expected to earn $45 billion in 2025, up 4.2% from 2024. Mobile gaming is forecast to reach $108 billion, a 7.7% year-on-year increase.
PC gaming is expected to see the strongest growth. Revenue from PC games is forecast to reach $43 billion by the end of 2025, up 10.4% compared to last year.
Newzoo principal market analyst Michiel Buijsman said the forecast shows “players spending more deeply within games and ecosystems they already value, rather than growth being driven by a sudden expansion of the player base”.
The report also tracked the top PC games by revenue in six Western markets from January to November 2025. Battlefield 6 ranked first, followed by Schedule I, ARC Raiders, Monster Hunter Wilds, Borderlands 4, EA Sports FC 26, REPO, Oblivion Remastered, Civilization 7, and Dune: Awakening.
On console, the top earners were EA Sports FC 26, NBA 2K26, Battlefield 6, EA Sports Madden NFL 26, MLB The Show 25, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, EA Sports College Football 26, Ghost of Yotei, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Borderlands 4.
The data shows that sports games remain very strong on consoles, while PC gaming is more open to new IP and mid-sized titles.
The positive forecast contrasts with recent US market data showing weak hardware and physical game sales. In November 2025, US hardware sales dropped to their lowest November level in 30 years, and spending on physical games also hit a record low for the month.
