Hollow Knight: Silksong Gets Free Sea of Sorrow DLC, Switch 2 Version Planned
Hollow Knight: Silksong will receive a free DLC expansion for all players.
The DLC is called Sea of Sorrow and will release in 2026, according to developer Team Cherry. It has a nautical theme and will include “new areas, bosses, tools, and more”.
“Hornet’s adventures continue in our nautically themed expansion, coming free for all players next year.”
Team Cherry also confirmed that a Switch 2 version of the original Hollow Knight is in development. This version will offer “high frame-rate modes, higher resolutions, and many additional graphical effects”.
Players who already own Hollow Knight on Switch will get the Switch 2 update for free when it launches in 2026.
To prepare for this release, Team Cherry is updating all versions of the first game with new features and bug fixes. Some updates are already live on Steam, including 21:9 and 16:10 resolution support.
The studio also revealed that 7 million players have bought Hollow Knight: Silksong in the three months since launch, not including “millions” more on Xbox Game Pass.
“We wanted to say a huge thank you to all the players who’ve braved Silksong’s distant and dangerous lands,” Team Cherry said.
“That’s over seven million of you who’ve purchased the game, alongside millions more playing on Xbox Game Pass.
“It’s a truly staggering number of players, more than we could have ever expected (enough to crash all of the storefronts).
“Your continued enthusiasm remains a massive motivator as we work towards expanding the game even further.”
