Capcom Announces Mega Man: Dual Override, New 2D Game Coming in 2027
Capcom has announced a new Mega Man game called Mega Man: Dual Override.
The game was revealed at The Game Awards. It will release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
A short trailer showed classic 2D Mega Man gameplay, with a new cel-shaded art style.
“Mega Man returns in 2027 with a brand-new entry in the classic action platforming series,” the game’s description reads.
“Override challenges and blast down legions of robots while springboarding across a new array of futuristic frontiers.”
Earlier this week, Capcom said it wants to grow Mega Man into a core IP, alongside its biggest series.
Capcom president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto said the company’s current core IPs are Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter.
To reach its goal of selling 100 million games per year, Capcom plans to invest more in other series and grow their player bases.
“Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney,” he said. “We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs.”
