Grasshopper sets Romeo is a Dead Man release date, confirms self-publishing
Grasshopper Manufacture has announced the release date and publishing plan for its next game, Romeo is a Dead Man.
The game will launch earlier than expected, on February 11, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam). It was previously only given a general 2026 window.
Executive director and writer Goichi Suda (Suda51) joked that the game was originally meant to release at the same time as Grand Theft Auto 6. But now that Rockstar has delayed its game, Grasshopper can share its real plan.
Suda said: “Now we’ve won our game of chicken against cough a certain twice-delayed 2026 release, we can reveal our cards and confirm we never intended to launch in May in the first place. We’re warping space-time to put the finishing touches to Romeo is a Dead Man ahead of its launch next February.”
Grasshopper also announced it will self-publish the game for the first time in the studio’s history.
The studio calls the title its “bloodiest action game yet”. It is a third-person sci-fi action adventure where players switch between melee combat (like in No More Heroes) and gun combat (like in Shadows of the Damned).
In the story, Romeo Stargazer, an FBI Space-Time agent saved from death by the DeadGear mask, hunts dangerous fugitives across the multiverse. He must also deal with the sudden disappearance of his girlfriend, Juliet.
