Iron Lung is a 2022 indie sci-fi horror game known for its intense claustrophobic atmosphere. Players pilot a tiny, windowless submarine through a mysterious “ocean of blood,” relying only on sensors and a grainy camera to navigate. The game became a viral hit thanks to its minimalist but deeply unsettling design.

Markiplier has released the official trailer for his self-funded film adaptation of Iron Lung, set to premiere in U.S. theaters on January 30, 2026.

The movie expands on the game’s universe, exploring the deadly cosmic event known as “The Quiet Rapture,” which wipes out habitable planets and forces humanity into desperate survival.

This is one of Markiplier’s biggest personal projects — he is directing, writing, producing, and starring in the film. He first announced the adaptation in 2023, a year after showcasing the game on his YouTube channel.
