CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Unusual and Exotic Jobs [5]
What's up! It's CM Flint. How do you all spend your days? Maybe you're attending school as a student, working part-time or at a company to earn money, or spending time at home due to certain circumstances. If you're looking for something interesting, today's post might be helpful for you! Around the world, there are many intriguing and lesser-known professions. In this post, I'll introduce a few of the more unusual and exotic jobs out there. If I had a bit more time, I'd love to give some of these a try myself! 1. Pet Detective Do you have a pet? Or are you planning to welcome one into your home soon? According to research, the global pet market in 2022 reached $32 billion and is expected to grow by 1.5 times by 2030. With the increasing number of pet owners worldwide, there's also been an increase in missing pet reports. If your pet, a member of your family, goes missing, it's natural to be distressed. To help such people, there's a job called a pet detective. In China, where the popu

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Unusual Laws Around the World [2]
What's up! This is CM Flint. Occasionally, though not frequently, we encounter problems in life. In fact, from a country's perspective, such issues arise quite often, prompting the establishment of laws to resolve them. Some of these laws are very old, but if you look closely, you'll also find many that have been enacted relatively recently. These are new laws that emerge as historical and cultural contexts change. Today, I want to introduce some unique yet somewhat useful laws. They might seem helpful to know, but you might wonder, "Will I ever have many opportunities to use such knowledge?" Even while researching, I found many amusing laws! 1. Singapore - Ban on the Sale and Spitting of Gum In Singapore, chewing gum itself is not illegal, but selling gum or spitting it out in public places is considered illegal. Exceptionally, gums used for therapeutic purposes by doctors or pharmacists are allowed. There's a reason why this law was enacted. Before this law, people spat gum into keyh

CM Flint’s Treasure Hunt: Real-Life Locations Featured in Video Games [5]
What’s up! CM Flint here. Are you all enjoying the refreshing fall weather of September? With many opportunities to take a break this month, what better way to spend them than gaming? Lately, I’ve been trying out various games, and with the advancement of technology, some of these games have graphics that are nearly indistinguishable from reality. As a result, many in-game locations are actual places brought to life with stunning accuracy. Today, I’ve put together a list of real-world places featured in video games. Some of these are well-known tourist spots, while others have gained fame thanks to the games they appeared in. I got curious, so I decided to explore these real-life locations that serve as the backdrop for popular games! 1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – New York Marvel’s Spider-Man already received praise for its faithful recreation of New York City, but in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the game takes it a step further by adding Queens County into the mix. The richer colors and update

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Interesting Holidays Around the World [1]
What's up! CM Flint here. Is there anyone out there who doesn’t love holidays? I recently came across some interesting news. October 1st has been designated as a new temporary holiday in South Korea! That got me thinking, how much do our readers know about holidays around the world? Also, I noticed that people even plan trips around big holiday periods in other countries. So today, I’m going to introduce you to some special holidays celebrated in different parts of the world. 1. Hanukkah If you know only a bit about Judaism, you might have heard of this holiday. Hanukkah falls on the 25th of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar, which corresponds to November or December. It is sometimes referred to as the "Jewish Christmas." It’s a hugely popular event, particularly in the U.S., where it’s celebrated over eight days. In fact, it’s so well-known in the U.S. that even the current President Joe Biden himself participated in the Hanukkah celebrations at the White House. Hanukkah commemorates the

CM Flint’s Treasure Hunt: Endangered Animals
What's up! This is CM Flint. Have you ever been to a zoo? While I rarely get the chance to visit aquariums, it’s even rarer for me to visit zoos. But I do remember a time when my parents took me to a zoo as a child. I recall seeing many interesting animals at the zoo. However, the one that left the biggest impression on me was the fennec fox, which was known to be endangered at the time. The little fox resting in a desert-themed habitat was just too adorable. (Tiny and cute, I was almost afraid to even touch it!) Today, I want to introduce you to some endangered animals like the fennec fox, which can only be seen in places like zoos. These animals have drastically reduced in numbers due to various reasons, and I believe that continued awareness is crucial to their survival, so I wanted to share them with you! 1. Bengal Tiger While it’s not easy for the average person to distinguish between different species of tigers, there are indeed several kinds. The Bengal tiger, for instance, is a

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Fascinating Foods
What's up! CM Flint here. Lately, I've been feeling that summers are getting hotter, and winters are getting colder as the years go by. August, in particular, seems to be the time when you can truly feel the summer heat. And the hotter it gets, the more I find myself craving more food. (The hotter it is, the more energy I lose, so I find myself looking for something to eat.) Do you enjoy eating? I absolutely love finding and trying delicious food, especially exotic dishes or new foods that I haven't tried before. When I visit a new restaurant, I tend to pick dishes that seem unusual or that I've never tried before. So today, I want to introduce you to some foods that you may not have heard of or had the chance to try. These are foods that are hard to come by due to cultural differences or are simply rare or unusual dishes. Given that food is one of the essentials of life, I'm really excited about today's topic! 1. Zuixia (醉虾, Drunken Shrimp) In Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China, there

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Surreal Places Worth Visiting
What's up! This is CM Flint. How open are you to experiencing new things? Some people enjoy trying new dishes at restaurants, while others stick to familiar favorites. To me, exploring means embarking on a journey to discover a wide variety of experiences that I haven't encountered before. As I explore various places, I often visit areas I've never experienced. (You can get new experiences by challenging new things you've never tried!) For this post, I've prepared a list of places that I think everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. Although I knew there were many amazing places around the world, I was surprised to discover places that felt unreal. These locations will make you realize how vast and diverse our world is. So, in this post, I’ll introduce you to some of the most surreal places on Earth. 1. Skaftafell Ice Cave, Iceland Skaftafell Ice Cave is located in Iceland and was formed through the interaction of glaciers and volcanic activity. The cave is constantly changi

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Incredibly Rare Gemstones
What's up! This is CM Flint. There are countless treasures in the world, but some are truly worthy of being called treasures. Ancient relics sunk in the sea, treasure chests buried on remote islands, or golden artifacts resting in ruins are the kinds of treasures we commonly imagine. However, among all the treasures that exist or don't exist in reality, there is one thing that many people consider a treasure. That is, of course, gemstones. (Gemstones are truly worthy of being called treasures.) Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds—the mere mention of these names makes us gasp in awe. But did you know that there are even rarer gemstones among them? In today's post, I want to introduce you to some incredibly rare gemstones that you may not have heard of before. Benitoite With its distinctive blue hue, benitoite is easily mistaken for sapphire and is an extremely rare gemstone. This gemstone was first discovered in the United States in 1907 and was initially confused with sapphire due to

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Exotic Transportation Around the World
What's up! This is CM Flint. What mode of transportation do you use when you travel? You might use a bicycle, or if you have a car, you might drive yourself frequently. If you don't have a car, buses or subways are likely the most common means of transportation. (During rush hours, it's tough to find a seat on buses or subways.) Today, I want to introduce some more interesting and exotic modes of transportation that are hard to find in other countries, have evolved to fit their environment, or have developed due to special circumstances! If you are planning an overseas trip, why not give these a try? 1. Jeepney (Philippines) Jeepneys are the primary public transportation in the Philippines. After World War II, when the U.S. military withdrew from the Philippines, they left behind jeeps that were collected, assembled from usable parts, and modified. These modified jeeps, painted in bright colors instead of dull military paint, became the first jeepneys. These discarded jeeps were sturdy

CM Flint’s Treasure Hunt: Life-Changing Lottery Stories
What's up! This is CM Flint. Do you like lotteries? I don't dislike lotteries, but I don't buy them often either. I sometimes buy a lottery ticket when I wish for something good to happen or when I want to feel good for a week. Of course, I have only won a few bucks at best, but I admire those who have won first or second place. (To the winners, let's be friends! Hehe) But do you know how much the lottery winnings can be? In the past, you had to scratch the ticket to see if you won, but nowadays, the prize money changes frequently depending on the sales of the lottery. Even if the chances of winning become incredibly small in these days, people tend to buy more tickets when the prize money is large. So, today, for those curious about how high the lottery winnings can go, I will introduce the prize amounts for lotteries in various countries! 1. Japan: Takarakuji Lotto 7 (ロト7) In Japan, lotteries are called Takarakuji (宝くじ). Most of these Takarakuji in Japan are managed by Mizuho Bank, w

CM Flint’s Treasure Hunt: Instruments You Didn't Know About
What's up! This is CM Flint. I've always enjoyed listening to music while wandering around, especially finding unique pieces of music. (I always remember having fun when I found something unique or interesting, haha.) Do any of you have instruments you play as a hobby? If you do, it’s probably classical instruments like the piano or violin, or perhaps string instruments like the guitar or bass. Today, however, I’d like to introduce some special instruments. Specifically, we’ll be focusing on string instruments. 1. Hurdy Gurdy (or Draailier) The Hurdy Gurdy, known as the draailier in German, is a famous medieval European string instrument. It originated from fiddles played in Europe or the Middle East. Players who play the Hurdy Gurdy are called Hurdy Gurdyists. To play, you spin the lever at the bottom of the instrument and press keys like a piano. This method of turning the lever and the instrument’s origins led to it being called the Wheel Fiddle. When you listen to the performance,

CM Flint's Treasure Hunt: Extremely Rare TCG Cards
What's up! This is CM Flint. Since my introduction, I guess I haven’t shown much of my explorer side. So, I thought it would be a good idea to start introducing something explorative. So, I want to share some scarce items I’ve discovered during my explorations, particularly some of the rare treasures I’ve found. (Gotta show you something explorative!) Do you know much about TCG games? TCG stands for Trading Card Game which players build decks according to the rules and battle each other. They can also freely trade cards. (The online version of TCG is called OCG, which stands for Online Card Game.) The most important aspect of TCGs is about trading cards freely! The rarer the card in a popular TCG game, the harder it is to get, and its trade value can reach astronomical prices. As of 2024, the three most well-known TCGs are Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG, and Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. (From left to right: released in 1993, 1996, and 1999, respectively.) Today, I’m going to introduce the rarest

CM Flint's Adventure Note: It's all about gaming gears! [2]
What's up! This is CM Flint. Today, I wanted to talk about something more casual, and I thought about what to share. So today, I want to talk a bit more in detail about gaming gears with you all. Do you like video games? I enjoy them quite a bit. While some of video games recommend using a keyboard, many suggest using additional peripherals like game pads. I consider peripherals quite important when gaming. I've bought an arcade stick for shooting games and a hitbox controller for getting into fighting games. However, the biggest expenditure was on the racing wheel. So today, I'd like to introduce racing wheels by their different levels. First, let's talk about entry-level racing wheels. Most of what you’ll find if you search "racing wheel" on online shopping sites like Amazon fall into this category, typically priced around 100 USD or less. However, when connected to a PC, they are often recognized as a pad rather than a racing wheel. It's good for beginners getting into racing games

CM Flint's Adventure Note #1
June 4th, 2024, Wednesday. I'm CM Flint. I've settled on this place and I've become a new community manager. My top priority is to keep the community clean and safe so other users can visit here anytime they want. That's not an easy work, but that's what I gotta do. So, I made my own To-Do list for today, and here's the list of the work I've done for today. I've reworked the community menu before everything else. I found out that my name here is CM Flint. I made a new board, CM Playground, to communicate with other users here. And that's why I made a post to introduce myself. Although not so many ppl show interest in my AMA post, I believe that more ppl will visit the Global STOVE Community in the future. I really hope the community will grow much bigger later. I do really hope so. (End of Document)

[AMA] I'm a new community manager, CM Flint. Ask Me Anything! [4]
Hello, everyone. This is CM Flint! As the title says, I've joined as the new community manager for the Global STOVE community.
