[Creator News] Detroit: Become Human FAQ [8]
This is the Game Manager. Please check the Detroit: Become Human FAQ below.
1. Turn off the Overlay
Please disable the STOVE Client Overlay, and try the game again.
Steps to Disable STOVE Overlay:
- Launch the STOVE Client and log in to your account.
- Click on your Nickname (Profile) located in the upper-right corner of the client window.
- Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
- In the Settings window, look at the sidebar on the left and click on the "Overlay" tab.
- Find the option labeled "Enable STOVE Overlay" and uncheck/toggle it off.
- Click the "Confirm" or "OK" button at the bottom to save your changes.
2. Unable to run the game
- The Conflict: Windows Security's "Controlled Folder Access" is a ransomware protection feature. It prevents unknown or unauthorized applications from modifying files in your system folders (like Documents).
- The Result: When the game tries to start a new scene, it attempts to write a save file. Windows blocks this action. Because the game engine is waiting for a "Success" signal from the hard drive that never comes, it gets stuck in an infinite loop, resulting in a permanent black screen.
- This is the quickest way to confirm if this is the cause of your problem.
- Open Windows Security (search for it in the Start menu).
- Go to Virus & threat protection.
- Scroll down to Ransomware protection and click Manage ransomware protection.
- Switch Controlled folder access to Off.
3. Mouse right click is not working
- The "No response from left button" error in Detroit: Become Human is a known issue, often caused by the game’s origin as a console title. Since the game was designed primarily for controllers, its PC port sometimes struggles with mouse input priority or high-performance peripheral settings.
- Disconnect External Controllers
- This is the most frequent fix. Unplug any gamepads (Xbox, PlayStation), Joysticks, Steering Wheels, or Graphic Tablets currently connected to your PC. The game often defaults to these devices, disabling mouse clicks in the process.
- Force Window Mode (Alt + Enter)
- If the mouse cursor is visible but clicks aren't registering, the game might be out of focus.
- While in the game menu, press Alt + Enter to toggle between Fullscreen and Windowed mode.
- Once it switches to Windowed mode, try clicking again. If it works, you can then revert to Fullscreen in the game's display settings.
4. The game is oftenly crashed.
- The issue is likely a software conflict.
- Reset the Shader Cache (Most Common Fix)
- Detroit: Become Human pre-compiles shaders on the first launch. If this process is interrupted or corrupted, the game will crash every time you try to start it.
- Action: Go to the game’s installation folder.
- Locate: Find and delete the folder named ShaderCache.
- Result: When you restart the game, it will attempt to recompile the shaders. Do not click anything or alt-tab during this process.
- Adjust NVIDIA Control Panel Settings
- Certain power-saving or caching settings can interfere with the game's launch.
- Action: Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings.Change: Set "Shader Cache Size" to Unlimited.
- Change: Set "Power management mode" to Prefer maximum performance.
5. Syncronising in not working
- If the STOVE launcher hangs on "Synchronizing" or fails to upload your progress, try the following:
- Clear Launcher Cache:
1. Close the STOVE launcher.
2. Navigate to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\STOVE.
3. Delete the temporary folders inside and restart the launcher.
6. How to change the langage
- You can change the language in the main menu.
- Start the game and reach the Main Menu.
- Select Options.
- Go to the Languages tab.
- From here, you can independently adjust:Voice Language: Changes the spoken dialogue.
- Subtitle Language: Changes the text at the bottom of the screen.
- Menu Language: Changes the UI, buttons, and menu text.
- Apply the changes before exiting the menu.
Thank you.

People who are facing crash when swtiching to other programs, play the game in borderless windows to fix it
Is there gonna be an update coming to fix the injustified game crash ? We're all getting tired of this !!
and still didnt work i installed 2 times done everything and its still not running always the blue play button popping up again if anyone knows a fix please let me know
Alright, I think I fixed mine so what I did is to set the official exe of the game to have administration access and disabling fullscreen optimization
-Stove
-Library
-Detroit
-Click the cogwheel
-Click View Local Files
-Scroll down for the Detroit exe then do what I said above
Dunno if this contributed to the fix but setting my resolution to 1.00 probably worked aswell
I was always on 0.70 resolution (scale) and it crashed every time for 10 minutes of gameplay.
Vsync off and Fidelity On my resolution it was 1280 x 1080. I will try to experiment with other resolutions to see if it works on 1920x1200
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
DO NOT ALT TAB no matter what I think it contributes to the error of not responding
still not working!!!!
You can only play for like less than 10 minutes then it just stops working
NOT RESPONDING or 80 percent of your screen turns black
Hi,
I think our issues might be similar :
The game runs smoothly for a while then the framerate drops to single digits , literally a slideshow .
From my benchmarks I think this is a Vram leak issue where the game doesn't clear the vram its allocated and instead keeps using more until the system eventually runs out , which causes the decrease in performance .
