New heroes and balance adjustments [2]

My thought is to delay features similar to Awakening and Skill Enhance. Just make them not work yet on day 1. Once the heroes have been around for x days, add the tweaks in stages. That should make balance adjustment easier. Was a new hero weak? Boost their power with above-average Awakening/Skill Enhancement/Other! Did the hero turn out to be OP? Make their Awakening/Skill Enhancement/Other minimal.


If you don't want to change the way the current upgrades are done, perhaps you can add another mechanic that is introduced only after having played a character a certain amount of time. Something similar to the Friendship system (but not exactly like it since gifts can speed that up). Just something any hero can get, but that no player can get on day 1...giving you time to decide whether the character needs a negligible boost or a large boost.


I've always thought that new heroes should be less powerful, anyway. People will play them just because they are new.

    Any new hero that isn't outstanding gets memed to the ground. Not forced by everyone because they're new. They need to be seen as worth the mola investment. People use heroes because they're powerful not because they're new. So if all new heroes were weak, what reason would we have to ever pull or invest in any of them? And how would we even use and judge how good those new weak characters are if we can't mola or awaken them? Molas and awakens aren't just damage increases. I can't get a skill's proc rate to max and use the hero like they're supposed to be on day one because....why?

    The game would die the second any of your OP got in it.

    They do both. People /keep/ using heroes when they are powerful. But there is always a buzz about each new hero, & a rush to pull them, build them ,& use them. Followed by disappointment. Either because they are not usable, or because they make something else obsolete.


    The game becomes less about taking heroes you like & building them up to be competitive, & more about cookie-cutter teams of the most OP heroes.

    People also want to know that the molas they spent already won't end up wasted because a new hero will come out that makes the one they use now obsolete.


    Wouldn't it be nice to know that ALL heroes would be worth the investment?


    Again, it wouldn't have to be skills- could be some new mechanic that works similar. The Exclusive Equipment is a good example.
