Epic Seven Update Preview for The Second Half of 2022 [64]

Hello. This is Epic Seven.

First, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our Heirs who joined Epic Seven as we celebrated the Ezeran Foundation Day. We were able to successfully host the E7WC and celebrate the Ezeran Foundation Day, thanks to the interest shown by our Heirs. We will continue working hard to provide more enjoyable content with your valued opinions.

Following the Awaken update in April, we are informing you of the update plans for the second half of 2022.

We would like to introduce the things that we are preparing, including the content introduced in Merurin’s Express Mail which was revealed during the E7WC Livestream.

 Introducing the Update Improvement Direction

We are preparing the updates for the second half of 2022 under the following four frameworks.

  1. Gameplay improvements
  2. Support growth for new & returning Heirs
  3. New content
  4. QoL/UI Improvements

We would like to introduce each part in more detail.

1. Gameplay Improvements

As you take your precious time to play Epic Seven, we want your time spent playing Epic Seven to be as meaningful as possible. Therefore, we are improving existing content and adding the Background Battling function.

Background Battling Function (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

A Background Battling system with cute pets will be added. It is a system that enables you to play other content manually after delegating the existing Repeat Battling. Since you won’t be able to use Repeat Battling while Background Battling is in progress, we look forward to you enjoying other content such as Enhancing Equipment, Hero Growth, etc. which you could not do while Repeat Battling.

Episode 1 Region Reward Improvements (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

Improvements will be made to Episode 1 regional stage missions.

Since most players do not have enough Heroes to meet the requirements while clearing Episode 1, we are decreasing the overall difficulties of the stage missions so that they do not require various Classes and Elements of Heroes to clear them. In addition, we are increasing the Region Reward based on the number of stars obtained in the stage mission as rewards for clearing stages in Adventure.

UI improvements will also be made so that it is easier to identify the regions where you have not received the rewards

Episode & Side Story Revamp (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

Currently, Side Stories are carried out regardless of your Episode progression. So, if you have not yet cleared the episode featuring the side story’s main character, it was difficult to understand the Hero’s story and its charm. Therefore, we are strengthening the connection between Episodes and Side Stories so that you can unlock personalized Side Stories according to their Episode progress. Once you have cleared enough Side Stories, summon the Hero from one of the Side Stories you cleared using the Story Banner.

Moreover, to speed up the completion progress between Episodes 2~3, the quest difficulties of unlocking AP Exchange, Trust Missions, and the price of some essential items will be reduced.

Unrecorded History Renewal (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

Unrecorded History must be played to obtain Epic Catalysts and unlock Moonlight’s Blessing, but it has the same stages as Episode 1, so having to clear about 220 stages again is a very tiresome experience.

Accordingly, Unrecorded History will be renewed to compress the story and reduce the process required to obtain desired Catalysts and unique rewards. In the future, we will provide you with more information on the Episode & Side Story Revamp and Unrecorded History renewal through Merurin’s Express Mail.

2. Growth Support for New & Returning Heirs

Epic Seven has welcomed many Heirs for the last 4 years, and, we are still welcoming many Heirs to this day.New & returning Heirs need to strengthen various Heroes to enjoy Epic Seven's content properly. However, it takes relatively much time to raise Heroes and acquire Equipment compared to existing Heirs who are familiar with the game.

To improve this, we are preparing various updates in the second half of 2022, in a way that can also help existing Heirs who need to strengthen their Heroes.

Grace of Growth (To be updated on September 1st)

The first content is called Grace of Growth (Formerly known as Grace of Unity) Grace of Growth will be available to all Heirs after clearing Episode 1, Stage 10-10, and it will be released with the September 1st update.

After registering one Hero for Grace of Growth, the Hero will receive Grace of Growth according to the required conditions for each stage. The conditions and effects (Stage, Level, Awakened, Skill Enhance) for each stage are as follows:

If the Hero has a naturally high growth rate, then a high growth rate will be applied.

(Ex. If the registered Hero has a maximum of +15 enhanced skills, Grace of Growth will be granted with +15 enhanced skills instead of +12)

When a Hero is granted Grace of Growth, they will be restricted from the following: Arena Defense Team, Guild War Defense Team, World Boss Supporter, Supporter. However, the Hero can be used for other PVE and PVP contents, including World Arena. Grace of Growth will not be granted for Ancient Inheritance, as it focuses on growth by playing the content. Players will be able to obtain more details in the update notice.

Once you withdraw a registered Hero, you will not be able to re-register a Hero for 3 days.

Web Event “Call to Adventure” (To be updated on September 1st)

The Web Event, “Call to Adventure" will be held for new and returning Heirs so that they can receive various benefits and gifts at any time.

The Web event, “Call to Adventure” will be available for all Heirs following the September 1st update. It will provide rewards such as +9 Free Covenant Summon 7-day-buff and other currencies that help you grow Heroes and enhance Equipment as you complete the listed missions. Reward details are as listed as follows.

  • 30% Gold Increase (14 days)
  • Free Unequip Buff (14 days)

It is very important to provide appropriate play guides to new and returning Heirs, so we will continue to prepare various events for them.

Beginner's Guide Web Event Expansion (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

We introduced the first beginner’s guide event page via the Rise update last year for the Heirs playing Episode 1. This year, we introduced the Hunt Expert Challenge! event page and the MolaGora Challenge! event page via the Awaken update to help our Heirs with their growth.

After a thorough investigation, we found out that new Heirs needed additional support after clearing Episode 1 to successfully defeat boss monsters in Hunt. Accordingly, we will provide a new beginner’s guide for new Heirs to acquire currencies for Hero growth and Equipment Charms. Through this event, new Heirs will be able to grow Heroes and enhance Equipment so that they can complete the Hunt Expert Challenge!, the MolaGora Challenge! and other PvE and PvP content.

Like any other web event update, we will prepare it so that all Heirs can participate in the event.

Hero Growth Support Check-In Event (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

Through the rewards provided by Adventurer’s Path Quest, the time and effort to promote a Hero to 6★ for the first time has reduced significantly. However, it still takes a very long time to grow the Hero to level 60 and promote the next Hero to 6★.

To assist Heirs with the process, we prepared a Hero Support Check-In Event to support our Heirs with growing and promoting Heroes after promoting their first 3 Heroes. All Heirs can participate in the event after the update without any time limit.

Others (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

One of the Moonlight Blessing mission difficulties will also be decreased so that it could help new Heirs with their growth. The Arena mission will be changed to reach Gold V League in Arena, instead of Gold I.

Another difficult mission in Moonlight Blessing, “Obtain all region rewards in all chapters in Unrecorded History”, will have its difficulty decreased along with the aforementioned Unrecorded History story renewal.

Moonlight Blessing will be available under the Hero menu after the update, which will let you see the list of acquirable Heroes all at once, including Connection and Specialty Change.

In addition, Equipment Storage will be expanded up to 700 slots and the Waiting Room will be expanded up to 300 slots.

3. New Content Update

As you can enjoy more content with the Background Battling update, we plan to provide new quality content updates for our Heirs to enjoy.

Moonlight Theater (To be updated on September 1st)

We would like to introduce stories from different worlds in Epic Seven to our Heirs with the Moonlight Theater. All Heirs who cleared Episode 2, Stage 10-10 can enjoy the stories from Moonlight Theater.

The first story that we have prepared is the story called “Neither God Nor Devil Exists”, which is a story about Cidonia in another world.

The first episode of “Neither God Nor Devil Exists” will be available for free and the next episode will be open after a week. You can acquire Theater Tickets as rewards if you have Heroes appearing in “Neither God Nor Devil Exists” and use them to watch the next episode immediately. Theater Tickets can be purchased using Gold and you can acquire 50 Mystic Medals as a reward when you watch it for the first time.

Moonlight Theater stories will be updated following future Hero updates.

Three Team Arena Battles (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

We are preparing content where three teams of three Heroes battle in the Arena.

We apologize for the delay in the schedule as we continue to review the content so that it can have the appropriate level of strategy and popularity.

Three Team Arena Battles will be casual PvP content, different from Arena and World Arena.

We expect you to experience different types of battles from World Arena or the existing Arena as it will be a best of 3 battles where there will be 3 Heroes on each team instead of 4.

We are also preparing for the NPC Challenge Arena revamp and the addition of the World Arena Replay option.

Labyrinth Revamp (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

There will be three main ways to revamp Labyrinth.

1. The Existing Labyrinth Revamp and Addition of Exploration Rate Reward

As the progress of the Episodes and the growth of Heirs has exceeded that of Normal Labyrinth progress for a long time, we plan to revamp the existing Labyrinth rewards and shorten some paths in Labyrinths so that you can move on to the next Labyrinth faster.

We will be adding rewards according to the total exploration rate so that you can enjoy exploring Labyrinth more. We will also reset the progress of all Labyrinth so that you can receive all the rewards once again as we are adding the exploration rate rewards.

2. Changing Azmakalis (normal) to a normal Labyrinth / Addition of Challenge Mode for Azmakalis (Hell)

There is very little reason for players to play Azmakalis in normal difficulty repeatedly as your average Equipment level far exceeds that of the rewards from Azmakalis (normal). Therefore, Azmakalis (normal) will be changed to a normal Labyrinth, like Great Farche Labyrinth and Nixied’s Sanctum. Instead, we will add the new Challenge Mode in hell difficulty. Heroes cannot be used again, and difficult bosses will drop more various items.

3. Addition of a New Labyrinth, Meldrec

The New Labyrinth, Meldrec, will be the first Labyrinth set in Cidonia. The adventure will take place in the world of ritual to save Malicus, the Lord of Fire. The Meldrec Labyrinth will be updated as a normal Labyrinth.

4. QoL Update and UI Improvements

Hero/Equipment UI Improvements (To be updated on September 1st)

The Hero UI will be updated and divided into two parts.

There will be a Standard screen, where you can check information related to battle,

and a Details screen, where you can check the Hero Story and Friendship information.

You can manage your most used Heroes more easily by adding them as favorites on the Standard Screen. You can also look at more Heroes on a screen by using the Multiple View feature.

Equipment UI will also be improved so that you can move any equipment from Equipment Details to Storage or reforge the equipment in the Steel Workshop by tapping the Reforge button.

New Lobby Types (To be updated in the 4th Quarter of 2022)

We will update new Lobby types so that you can meet your Heroes in different places, other than the Pub Lobby that has been with our Heirs for a long time.

We are preparing new Lobby types where you can get a glimpse of the various places and Heroes in Epic Seven. Moreover, we will also provide a setting where you can set your Hero or illustration as your background.

5. Ezeran Foundation Day Check-In Event

We prepared an event to celebrate the fourth Ezeran Foundation Day. The Ezeran Foundation Day Check-In Event will be updated on September 1st and will be available on All Event Details. By checking in for 15 days, you can receive a 5★ Covenant Hero Selector.

Every major event always has an update for returning players but you never address the thing that made them quit in the first place, which is the gear system. Maybe do that instead so you'll only focus on new and oldplayers.

BEST

You are trying, but focus on the main issues first, dont just throw random stuff at the wall in hope it sticks.

Most important: Atrocius random loot box like Gear Crafting and LVLing system. Thats the one biggest issue.

How to fix: Lighten up but not remove RNG completely. Replace the current system used for one similar to Alchemyst Steple (but no stat and set stones needed, those are obsolete. Only crafting mats and gold needed) Alchemyst crafting should be upgraded to Artenas crafting event and have a limit 1 per month on it.

Thus from normal crafting you always get the set you want with the desired main. RNG the subs and subsequent leveling. It will still take time to get good pieces but at least you will get them at more reasonable rate.

Second: Remove the lowest current roll for leveling gear (IE: Speed 1, Eff 4, etc). Currently: 5 rolls in the pool. Change it to 4.

Remove charms from gear lvling entirely. Gold and Stigma should be used instead (drop rate increased).

BEST

New lobby type = live 2d skin hopium .

More Story Quest, please... Well anyway I just started Chapter 3.. So I still have way to go... Plus Moonlight Theater already opened.

I would love if the gear system changed somehow. To make it slightly easier to acquire great gear at least once a month or something. Like higher rolls or an item that grants you the ability to roll into what you like or want on that specific piece for at least one time with a max roll. I guess we'll have to wait. The game has changed a lot and it can't be denied so that could be a possible update for the future.

Lobby getting updated after a half decade ****

Give us another name changer item, i wanna chang my name 😭😭

If the charms issue ever gets fixed I would come back and play the game.

The problem here is, gear is already extremely hard to get, and I am okay with that. But the problem is I can't even roll a bunch of gear.. so my bag is actually full of stuff I can't roll because aren't enough ways to consistently get charms.

Why do we have to go to like 5 different places to get charms and why is it so limited? For example summoners war allows you to pretty much upgrade with the in-game currency which means you can actually roll every piece of gear and we STILL have to keep farming.. it's because the RNG is already so bad, let alone gating whether or not you can roll a piece

So we only get one piece of content that's background battling? That's good and all, but why just one? You finally had a step in the right direction by implementing offline farming, but you instead provided a half-assed version of it. It would be fine even if it was just one of the content that is running, but I'd rather have a proper offline farming mechanic.

Either have Background Battling but have it do 2-3 content that are running or have 1 content running but implement a proper Offline Farming. Or better yet, make the gear somewhat bearable to even farm.

I love this game a lot, but because of the gear farming it seems like work. That's why I take 3-6 month breaks from this game just so I don't hate it in the end. All the other updates are great though.

looks like gear QoL is just a myth

Background battles are great idea just make sure we can close the game during the battles as well as that is the major issue of E7 - it "locks" the device for itself hindering even real life activities.

Complaining about gear system seems dumb to me. Where's the thrill/fun if you can easily get tons of *** tier gear. So dumb

Thinking that it has to be either a RNG hell or extremely easy seems dumb to me. As if the RNG couldn't be just tuned down to keep it challenging enough but able to get good gear at a good and consistent rate to gear more units and have fun experimenting with different builds. So dumb.

I'm happy about the background battles finally coming to E7 but... yeah... zero improvements on the gear system.

Truly... Grace of Growth is also a nice thing to have but if you are really concerned about how much time it takes to raise a hero, the gear is the problem. It's really like you are deaf to what players say, I haven't ever read anyone saying they have a hard time leveling and awakening heroes.

I don't want to scoff at the good things you are doing but honestly, all that is moot until you fix the core issues like the gear system. I would be willing to bet it's the number 1 reason people drop the game in the first place, so please fix that to ensure returning players actually stay.

Personally, if this was it for the "big announcement" then I will be taking a veeery long break from the game after FMA collab, heck, not even sure I'll ever pick it up again if I don't see any improvements in the gear system.

I'm happy for Labyrinth its one of my favourite modes in game and finally getting update.

Can you put in a fashion feature for Ras and Mercedes, like to be able to revert to regular ole Ras and Mercedes? I have not and will not specialty change them just because, I sorta like their old art styles and I know im missing out on their SC power. It would also be cool for the other SC heroes too, to be able to revert to their old looks but still have SC skills/stats added.

I returned after 2 years of absence because I missed this game. I love my champions and the time I invested into them. I love the pulls I get and the amount of resources given for ftp content. And I love the newest changes and updates to acquiring runes, playing side stories, the expanded map full.of so much potential and everything else that came with it.

But damn, this gear system honestly hurts my soul. In fact, the rng in general is quite frustrating. It's even shown in the latest world Cup. Granted it can be hype as hell, but not when a soul burned, 100% chance debuff that ignores effect resistance, ends up falling short, or a gear that shows soooo much promise, health set with % heal, epic item with health, speed, effect resist and crit damage, and at 15 levels, three of the boosts hit crit damage, effectively making the level 75 item, purchased with conquest points, effectively useless...

Essentially, the rng needs to be modified, it's quite brutal at times...

that's great but what about getting rid of 15% resistance? that ****** mechanic deciding matches in the e7wc is atrocious

my biggest questions with this patch revolve around this:

"

 "

Actually, running normal mode is very important for me, I gain the opportunity weekly to get more ancient coins, extra talismans to go into hell raid, and the opportunity to buy catalysts and gain Galaxy Bookmarks as loot.

There's a LOT of incentive to run normal raid and i do so regularly, at least twice a week, sometimes more. (labyrinths can be somewhat of a time commitment.)

To further, will you be allowing a new mechanism to replace all these items you would effectively be taking away from us by doing this?  will hell raid take only 1 compass and allow weekly completion?  if so, i'm all for it!

If not, I think you should really reconsider what you plan to do with regular raid.

Sorry gear system complainers, coming through! My biggest wants in this game in its current state is MORE and MORE hero skins. Instead of just having Epic Pass skins and World Arena skins, why not just straight out design a bunch of non moonlight 5* hero skins and throw them in the skin shop as well? Make the players want to buy your skin packs. It's something that requires real money, but also doesn't affect gameplay since it's simply cosmetic. Also 2 more trivial suggestions which I would think would be a great touch to the game is:
1)  Allow players to change their avatar heroes facial expressions. If I'm using the "Laugh" facial expression on my Ruele, I want everyone to see my avatar as a smugged face Ruele. It takes a lot of grinding for Lvl 10 affinity, so let us show it off.

2) Pet names. Let our pets' nickname be displayed in our profile. I got a lot of pet nicknames I want to share.

Gear system complainer brothers, you may trample over me as you usua-

Though I like the idea of them focusing more on skins for revenue so they hopefully start being less frugal with the gear system, you got to consider skins here are different than in most other gacha games. Sure, Azur Lane can throw a ton of skins at you because they really don't have to do much else beyond the character art itself since they just use that for battle as well.

Here they have to adjust their S3 animations which take much more time being hand drawn. And that's on top of constantly making new units and SCs.

kinda agree for unlucky people that comaplain about gears.  me too one of unlucky ones who doesnt hv a single 300 sped gear even after 3 yrs. this whole years has been bad fr me. even if new contents are great what use. if i keep dying nd getting beaten by evryone else.+++ moreover u  had too bring c.lilias #~_~). nd ravi.. i nly hv brusier gears. but bruisers keep dying. now by trying to counter a.ravi. ur killing my only fighting way. plz fix this baised rng

I'm very thankful for this update. Even though we can't skip the stage to clear it using certain requirements, at least we can do something in game while the hunt or the other running. It does helps a bit on saving our time. But someday in future, I hope we can skip the stage so we can do something else and come back to the game after that. This is a very useful update even though we still can't skip the stage. You guys did a very good job on improving the game while of course there's something more must be done. Well, slowly but surely. I hope it's not too slow.
