[GM] Notice Regarding Battle Frenzy Effects in World Arena [31]

Hello, Heirs!

This is GM Dominiel.

 

We would like to provide you with further information about the new Battle Frenzy effects added on the 3/17 update.

 

Our Epic Seven developers have decided to apply new Battle Frenzy effects to the game on 3/17 (Thu) during the pre-season in pursuit of natural changes in the current meta to encourage players to make use of a larger pool of Heroes.

 

■ New Battle Frenzy Effects

1. When attacked by an enemy of a disadvantageous element, damage from the attack and additional damage received decreases by 30%. When more than one damage reduction effect is granted, only the strongest effect is applied.

2. When  an enemy is eliminated, Combat Readiness of all allies increases by 15%. This effect can be activated once per turn.

3. Final Speed of Soul Weavers increases by 20.

 

The first effect was designed to deepen the Hero elemental advantages/disadvantages, which is one of the fundamental strategic elements of Epic Seven. From the results, we have verified that this allows players with Heroes taking elemental advantage to have more chance to overpower the opponents. Thus, we have decided to keep the effect intact for this Resolution Season. Yet, we are aware of players' concerns that it has expanded the restriction in the selection of Covenant Heroes, leaving players to use Moonlight Heroes. We are planning to adjust other elements to ensure Covenant Heroes stay useful in battle by further balance adjustments and the addition of new exclusive Equipment.

 

As for the second effect, we have decided to remove the effect as we concluded that the effect has rather disrupted the gameplay environment. The effect was introduced to allow players to utilize a variety of Speed-based team combinations which has grown challenging to adapt. As a result, we could see many different team combinations were adapted more by players.

However, we also could see that there are more matches where regular team combinations overpowered the opponents by using heavily enhanced Single Attack-DPS Heroes.

The team that took out an opponent Hero first would take the upper hand, and for the opponent team, it would not be handy to bear the attacks and equally combat their enemy.

 

Next is the third effect that was applied on the 3/24 update to replace the second effect.

 

At the moment, Soul Weavers, except for certain Heroes, are not often used by players compared to other classes in World Arena due to their low overall stats and skill performance. This third effect is to enhance Soul Weavers' strategic value and diversify team combinations and strategies.

As our players would, we are also concerned about the class overly taking the benefits with the others left behind, and the possibility that this Battle Frenzy effect would only moderate the issue temporarily. We are planning to keep on developing other supplements such as balance adjustments and star adjustments in order to increase Soul Weavers' performance in general. However, as this change affects many Heroes, we will take a careful approach to prevent side effects as much as possible. We will also consider appropriate improvement measures based on match data collected during the Resolution Season. In addition, the increase in the final Speed will be adjusted from 20 to 15 so that the effect does not enhance efficiency by too much for certain Soul Weavers.

 

The Battle Frenzy effects newly introduced to World Arena Resolution Season are as follows.

In addition, players having matches in Champion League or higher will select two Heroes for Pre-ban as announced earlier. We will continue trying to provide a greater World Arena environment for our players.

    BESTSpeed for Soul Weavers is ok. But what they really need, on a global scale as a update not just Frenzy is +30% base ER.


    Right now most SW in the game play second fiddle to Mediator Kawerik who is not even a Soul Weaver yet outperforms most of them when it comes to cleansing and buffing the team.


    The bonus speed realistically helps just two heroes: Emilia and Maid. Both who see lot of use, but what about the rest ?

    Diene and Doris benefit from it as well , but you dont see these two that often now do you ?


    Considering how bad Effect Resistance is as a Stat in general, I would suggest all Soul Weavers get flat +30% ER to their base statline as a "Class bonus" for being Soul Weavers. Makes it bit easier to gear them and reach the extremely high ER requirement they need to have.


    Make no mistake, they will still get debuffed by 300% Eff Angel of Light, but at least it somewhat helps them against less stacked debuffers without having to be paper thin to reach those margins.

      ApamiseThis would not be a problem if molagora wasn't so hard to get, gear wasn't so expensive to switch between heroes and if ML 4 & 5 weren't so hard to get.

Maybe that's because most of them were released over 2 years ago and have dated kits compared to all the stuff we have to put up with now.

    Devs promised earlier to deal with tanky DPS heroes by adjusting frenzy.

    Yet these changes do not solve the problem.

    I like the 30% less dmg dealt to hero you have disadvantage to. Hwayoung shouldn't be 1 shotting water units when she misses, and now she won't. (Although probably temporarily).


    Imagine Hwayoung vs Aria (with ulti already used), forcing hwayoung to attack her xD, a really good way to do 5 dmg and then get the whole team killed

    A little suggestion. On top of speed, increase recovery of soulwavers, bonus rapidly decays. OR give them bonus resist that also decays.

    A better approach to soul weavers is to buff most of their speeds and passives. There are a few soul weavers that don’t need a spd buff, but many are crazy slow. Soul weavers that can CR push are mostly fine as is except for maybe Doris.

    This is going to be the worst season ever besides the first one and e7wc2 is going to be so bad.


    Just have your devs do their jobs and nerf 2021 for crying out loud. It's not too late to cut the frenzy nonsense despite this rarted notice.

    Great job, i belive that the elemental advantage frenzy is great, not being able to 1vs4 a team with elemental disadvantage should be rule, also i dont think that covenant will see less play because they only have advantage against his elemental counterpart, they still do the same damage to ML units and a hwa young still oneshots A. Ravi, Ran still strips and def breaks and so on, no problem picking them at all. Great choice on Frenzy SG!

    Honestly it’s not that hard to address the majority of the community’s concerns.


    remove 15% from pvp - you have given reasons for pve sure but there is no need for pvp when there are now so many cleansers and methods to counter controlcomposed to the beginning of the game.


    Grow a backbone and actually nerf units - lower damaged numbers by even 5% or increase etc simple stuff like that matters.

    Look at summoners war they have a great balancing team. Because they actually nerf units that oppress the meta.


    Fix those 2 and people will stop complaining…
