Smilegate, what do you look for in collaborations? [6]

I've wondered what sort of things they look at when they try to decide who to collaborate with.
Is it a good deal? Is it mutual advertisement? Is it a popular IP? How willingly they are to lend their characters to a gacha game? Recency?

Just curious about the thought process that goes into selecting such a big thing =o
I doubt they'll answer this tho =(

I don't work for SG, but I would imagine it's a mix of all of that. Both sides need to see some potential benefit, which is usually the advertisement and attention that each gets from their respective fanbase. It serves no real purpose if the IP you collab with has no popularity unless your goal is to pull that IP up. You don't want to collab with something that was popular even 2 years ago but has nothing coming up because there's less chance to pull folks in, unless you're talking a juggernaut series.

Willingness on both sides is a given. The famous contemporary example is FGO - easily one of the most popular gacha games the world over, I've no question there are many IPs that would love to collab with them. But, FGO has made it clear they will not collab with anyone outside their own universe of IPs. And it has to fit. Dragonball is crazy big and has plenty going on. Goku and company however would not fit the E7 universe.

I think a bigger concern for SC at this point is if they do collab, how can they ensure sales?

I'm sure collabing means there is a certain quota that must be met to satisfy their end of the agreement.

I feel the last collab was a lesson learned for them. They ensured sales at the cost of pushing the competitive aspect of their game to a state that could render their collab heroes, as ridiculously useful as they are, irrelevant.

I wonder if SG just finds creating lore around their own characters and hyping them up until their release, the better strategy.

Most likely well known franchise that has collaborated with other Gotcha games. Guilty Gear has been in Brave Frontier and i think FFBE. I have a feeling we will be collaborating with FFBE only because FFBE made an announcement that they will have a surprise collaboration mid April, gee that sounds suspiciously around the same time as Epic Seven is due for a colab.
