I tried tapping the upper right corner of the screen where the skip button would be and it worked went straight to the next wave. 

Going to try that now to see if it works

Ok, I was able to get past this issue by tapping the upper right corner of the screen where the (skip) button would be.  Even though the screen is red, it registers the tap input for skip.

I am having this same issue. The quest badge is stuck on the last mission before the travel point to the next area.

Same thing has been happening to me and i cant move forward on the event story
