[GM] Epic Seven 8th Anniversary Eternal Heir Festival: On-Site Q&A [10]
Hello, Heirs. This is GM Dominiel.
On August 29, Eternal Heir Festival concluded successfully thanks to the enthusiastic interest and support of Heirs.
We sincerely thank every Heir who joined us at the venue!
From various events to The Call of Chaos with the developers, Eternal Heir Festival was filled with special and memorable moments.
Among them, we have gathered the developers’ candid answers to the many questions submitted by Heirs and are pleased to share them with you here!
We have also prepared answers to questions that could not be addressed due to the limited time at the venue. Please see below for more details!
Q. Are there any plans to rerun Collaboration Heroes?
PD Kwangjin Tak: We know that many Heirs especially enjoyed the most recent Collaboration, and we would have liked to bring it back as well. However, our schedules did not align with those of our IP partner, so we have confirmed that a rerun will not be possible through 2027.
We also believe that, if we were to hold a rerun after 2028, many Heirs may prefer a new Collaboration instead. As such, we are still discussing whether to proceed with a rerun.
We do not want to give Heirs false hope without a clear commitment, so for now, we would like to say that there are no plans for a rerun.
Q. Since new and returning players have no way to obtain Collaboration Heroes, they may hesitate to start playing. Are there any plans to introduce alternative Heroes with comparable performance or establish a permanent way to obtain them?
PD Kwangjin Tak: Unfortunately, our Collaboration agreements do not allow us to provide a permanent way to obtain Collaboration Heroes.
We are open to applying a similar approach to Heroes, such as the recent introduction of Class Artifacts as alternatives to Collaboration Artifacts. However, we cannot confirm when or how they may be released at this time. We will share more information as soon as a release is confirmed.
Q. Are there plans for a roadmap of external IP Collaborations following the Chaos Zero Nightmare Collaboration?
DD Daegyun Heo: We are continually exploring external IP Collaborations, and are currently preparing Collaborations that have already been confirmed.
We would like to present them at a time when Heirs will be most excited, but there are many factors to consider. We are carefully reviewing and adjusting the schedule accordingly.
We will make sure to share news about upcoming Collaborations with Heirs before too long.
Q. The Inventory has been expanded to 1,100 slots, but Equipment Storage still only has 700 slots, making Equipment management difficult. Are there any plans to improve the storage system itself?
PD Kwangjin Tak: As expanding the Inventory places a burden on the database, we are gradually increasing its capacity while monitoring the situation rather than expanding it all at once. We plan to add another 100 slots in the next update and will continue expanding it as long as doing so does not affect gameplay.
We will also look into improvements if there are any inconveniences with using Equipment Storage.
Q. Are there plans to adjust the release pace of new Sets, introduce Set Change Tickets, or consolidate Modification Gems by option?
PD Kwangjin Tak: Looking back at the release of the new Sets in June this year, we believe the interval between new Set releases was too short. We plan to increase the interval between future Set releases.
There are no immediate plans for the next Set release. It is currently expected to arrive as early as late this year, or as late as early next year.
We are not considering Set Change Tickets. If Set Change Tickets were introduced, we believe many Heirs would need to keep Equipment they would otherwise discard in anticipation of changing Sets, which could result in insufficient Inventory space. Therefore, there are no plans to introduce Set Change Tickets.
We had not considered consolidating Modification Gems by option. However, after receiving this question, I also felt that there are too many different types of Modification Gems and Cores. Personally, I would like to say that we will move forward with this improvement.
Q. Could you share the balancing direction for mitigating first-turn-focused power creep and the gap between older and newer Heroes?
PD Kwangjin Tak: New Heroes carry the same weight for us as the release of new content.
When analyzing the various gameplay data that Heirs have shown us so far, we found that Hero usability and player engagement are closely related. The release of a powerful Hero has led to higher engagement, while the release of a Hero that does not meet expectations has led to lower engagement, meaning that Heirs may not find the game as enjoyable.
As a result, we are always considering how to balance player engagement with Hero power creep. Some Heirs have also raised the topic of nerfs, but because we consider nerfs to be an absolute last resort, we approach them with the utmost caution.
For older Heroes with outdated performance to be used in the current meta, they would require equally significant buffs and improvements. However, releasing stronger new Heroes to counter those buffed older Heroes could create another form of power creep.
We sincerely want to repay the Heirs who have loved older Heroes throughout Epic Seven’s eight-year journey. However, we are sorry that we cannot provide an answer that will be fully satisfactory due to the many factors involved.
Even as I write this response, I recognize that the issue you have raised is a very difficult one. While this may not be a fully satisfying answer, I would like to assure you that balance is something we are especially careful about as we develop the game. We will continue listening to Heirs’ feedback and do our best to operate the game accordingly.
Q. It has been nearly two years since the last Specialty Change Hero was released. Are there any plans for a new 3★ Specialty Change Hero?
We view 3★ Heroes in the same context as the power creep that can result from buffing older Heroes.
For 3★ Heroes to be used in the current meta, they would require significant improvements, such as substantial Rune effects. While we recognize that the experience of developing Heroes is important to Heirs, we also have concerns about power creep.
For now, we will do our best to prepare a Specialty Change sometime next year.
Q. Galaxy Coins have been accumulating, but there are only a few Heroes in the Shop rotation, and the Selection Ticket pool still only goes up to Successor Taeyou. Are there plans to expand the rotation and Selection Ticket pool?
PD Kwangjin Tak: We have considered this issue and reviewed the data. We found that most Heirs with a large number of Galaxy Coins already own nearly every Hero.
Therefore, rather than focusing solely on providing more Heroes through improvements to the rotation and Selection Tickets, we would also like to provide value through Equipment and other areas.
The Hero pool for Selection Tickets purchasable with Galaxy Coins is planned to be expanded alongside the Milestone of Radiance Summon pool in approximately six months, around the Version 8.6 or 8.7 update.
Q. Are there any plans to expand sources of Mystic Medals and reduce the cost of Mystic Summons?
PD Kwangjin Tak: To be completely honest, we need to be very careful when making changes to monetization.
That said, we fully understand that Mystic Summons can be expensive. We have tried to ease the burden, even if only slightly, through the 30x Mystic Summon discount feature.
We believe that while the cost of obtaining Moonlight Heroes in Epic Seven can be somewhat high, the burden is relatively lower when it comes to Imprints. Even so, we hope to reduce the cost of obtaining Heroes so that more Heirs can acquire and grow attached to them.
However, changes to monetization are difficult to reverse once implemented. We apologize, but we will approach this carefully while continuing to explore various ways to reduce the burden.
Q. When will we be able to meet the unreleased Moonlight Heroes, Yuna and Tamarinne?
DD Daegyun Heo: Despite Yuna and Tamarinne’s enduring popularity, most Moonlight Heroes were previously released in connection with Moonlight Theater stories, so it was difficult to find a way to introduce them as Moonlight Heroes.
Recently, Moonlight Heroes have also been released as a way to further enrich an Episode’s narrative. We are currently considering when and through what content they could be introduced for the greatest dramatic impact.
Once we establish a foundation for existing Heroes to fit into the new world we are preparing, we will work to address Heirs’ desire to see these beloved Heroes released as Moonlight Heroes.
Q. When can we expect the conclusion of Moonlight Theater stories, and learn the whereabouts of Heroes who disappeared after an Episode?
DD Daegyun Heo: We are preparing to conclude Runway Fighter and Days of Piercing Cold, while Conqueror of the Oceans and Chronicle of the Last Witch are still ongoing.
For the time being, we plan to focus on progressing Episodes. Moonlight Theater content will be released more gradually beginning in the first half of next year.
As for Heroes who disappeared from Episodes, a significant amount of time has passed, and the team responsible for the story has also changed. As a result, it has not been easy to naturally incorporate the stories of existing Heroes into the narratives currently being developed.
As many Heirs continue to love these existing Heroes, our scenario team is working hard to ensure that all Heroes fit together naturally. We expect that Heirs will be able to meet some of the Heroes who have been absent through the latter half of Episode 6.
Q. Could the filters in the Journal and Hero List be improved to allow searching and sorting by mechanics or effects?
PD Kwangjin Tak: The Journal is one area that we have not yet revamped since Epic Seven’s launch. We are currently preparing a renewal of the Journal and plan to enhance its search and filter functions for greater convenience around the second half of this year.
Q. What criteria were used to design the playtime and level of fatigue for the new roguelike content, Dimensional Exploration?
PD Kwangjin Tak: Since Dimensional Exploration is designed as a PvE mode focused purely on challenge, we do not plan to require weekly play as though it were a routine task. Heirs will be able to play freely whenever they wish, but due to the nature of roguelike content and the need to build up a run, each playthrough is expected to take approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
This is the first content we have introduced with a playtime of this length. We will carefully listen to all feedback, including Heirs’ gameplay experience, and continue developing it into content that is enjoyable to play.
Q. Are there plans to add higher floors to Abyss or Automaton Tower, as well as revamp Labyrinth, which currently has little use?
PD Kwangjin Tak: We plan to add higher floors to Abyss. We began planning for this at the start of the year, but since we have been working on releasing other new battle content, there is currently no active development related to higher Abyss floors. However, we will make sure to add them.
As Labyrinth is content that has been available since Epic Seven’s launch, we believe creating new content would be more worthwhile than revamping it. Therefore, there are no plans to revamp Labyrinth.
Q. What is the current development status of the long-term roadmap items previously mentioned, such as the Eastern Continent?
PD Kwangjin Tak: There are several pieces of content we shared in the past that many players were looking forward to, including the Eastern merchant vessel and Guardian content. While we progressed with these ideas through the planning stage, we regret to inform you that they have been canceled.
We sincerely apologize for not sharing this news sooner. To make up for it, we will work to bring you even more enjoyable new content.
Q. Friendship Artifacts are difficult to obtain. Are there any plans to redistribute Friendship and Experience Artifacts, which are essential for Hero development, or establish a permanent way to obtain them?
PD Kwangjin Tak: We have generally distributed Friendship and Experience Artifacts during each anniversary. As owning these Artifacts serves as a symbol of having played during that particular anniversary, we do not plan to redistribute them.
We distributed a Friendship Artifact through this 8th Anniversary event, and we will work to make them available more frequently in the future.
Q. Are you aware that final Emperor rankings can be determined by matchmaking luck and abuse, and are there any criteria for taking action against such behavior?
PD Kwangjin Tak: We are, of course, aware of the concerns you have raised.
As the Emperor tier currently only covers the top 100 Guilds, we believe this has led to several issues. In the next Guild War season, we will expand the Emperor tier to the top 300 Guilds, then monitor and respond to trends in inappropriate gameplay patterns, including abuse.
Q. Are there any plans to increase Guild War season-end rewards?
PD Kwangjin Tak: We recently added Guild War Season rewards and increased the season-end rewards. However, we have also received feedback that the increased rewards have intensified competition and added to Guild War fatigue. Therefore, we do not plan to increase the rewards further at this time.
As mentioned, we will first expand the Emperor tier range to reduce the burden of reaching a rank, then continue monitoring Heirs’ feedback.
Q. Are there any plans to add a 10-battle Quick Battling option for Arena NPC Challenges?
PD Kwangjin Tak: As we would like Heirs to play Standard Arena rather than NPC Challenges, we unfortunately have no plans to add batch Quick Battling for NPC Challenges.
Q. Are there any plans to increase the number of World Arena ban slots to three?
DD Daegyun Heo: As the number of Heroes continues to grow, expanding the number of ban slots is something we can consider. However, adding even one additional ban slot can drastically change how the mode is played. More importantly, it can increase the burden of playing World Arena for new Heirs with relatively limited Hero rosters, so we intend to approach this very cautiously.
PD Kwangjin Tak: As you know, we have introduced some changes through Ban Protection and Warfare Rules. We plan to conduct various tests during the Pre-Season to explore whether there may be better approaches, so we would greatly appreciate Heirs’ feedback.
Q. Are there any measures being considered to help new players settle in without leaving the game?
DD Daegyun Heo: A great many new Heirs joined Epic Seven through the recent New ERA update and this 8th Anniversary update. We regularly review where new Heirs may experience inconvenience or lose interest in Epic Seven. Based on this, we are making improvements to help them enjoy the game more, such as supporting their progress with rewards at certain stages or adjusting the flow of content.
As Epic Seven has been live for eight years, there are challenges in closing the progression gap between existing and new Heirs. We are focusing on balanced improvements, such as improvements to Equipment farming, that allow new Heirs to grow quickly and narrow that gap without making existing Heirs feel disadvantaged.
Q. Only three Moonlight male Hero skins have been released over the past eight years. Are there any plans to release more male Hero skins, and what is the planned release schedule for Hero skins?
DD Daegyun Heo: We believe that male Hero skins need to be exceptionally appealing, or that the Hero itself needs to have a particularly stylish identity, in order to receive a lot of love from Heirs. For this reason, we approach the selection of male Heroes for skin production with additional care.
For Epic Seven Hero skins, the work required to create skill cut-ins and in-game models is nearly the same as that required to create a new Hero. As a result, skin production schedules are planned with new Hero development schedules in mind, and Hero skins currently have a lower priority than new Hero production.
I also understand the intent behind this feedback. We will review this from various perspectives to better meet Heirs’ diverse needs.
Q. What is the direction for supporting the fan-creation community?
DD Daegyun Heo: Fan-created works are not something we can cultivate simply because we want to. Instead, we are working to create an environment where those who truly love Epic Seven can actively create and share their work. This includes the Flea Market at Eternal Heir Festival and the upcoming ILLUSTAR FES. As there are more limitations for global Heirs, we have been continuously holding contests to support their creative activities.
We are always grateful for and deeply value the works created by our talented community. Beyond contests, we will also explore other ways for more users to see, enjoy, and participate in these creations.
Once again, we sincerely thank all Heirs who have been with Epic Seven throughout the past eight years and have continued to show us their interest and support.
The Equipment crafted during the Eternal Heir Festival “Equipment Crafting Showdown” will be distributed to all Heirs after the maintenance on 9/17 (Thu), so please wait just a little longer!
We will continue striving to create more stories and happy memories together with Heirs.
We ask for your continued interest and support for Epic Seven’s journey ahead.
Thank you.

"For older Heroes with outdated performance to be used in the current meta, they would require equally significant buffs and improvements. However, releasing stronger new Heroes to counter those buffed older Heroes could create another form of power creep."
Yet you give ml yuffine trash buff , while frida buff is too broken?
Unless you change the balance patch for ml yuffine in 17 september, your yapping is useless , its indicated that you never listen to player at all.
Last , fix your server problem , it always disconnect while playing epic seven.
This is the worst anniversary , server connection issue , trash reward , trash balance update

with the latest balance patch? id say this is their yapfest

Limited roster? What is the support heroes that you provide to player for then? Just give more heroes in the list ..... like its not that hard if you think about it...
New players either won't be bothered or won't be able to do RTA or cimb pass the cut off ranks where support heroes are disabled
When can we get Brinus as a playable hero? Been waiting forever 😩
What's the Eternal Heir Festival “Equipment Crafting Showdown?” 🤔
Collab EE.
I get older players wanting new collabs rather than old ones reruning but cant we just have a new event featuring an older IP you collabed with and in said event you add 3 new collab heros and buff the old ones(say for example a re:zero part 2 collab where we get reinheart , echidna and shaula as new units while buffing ram , rem and emilia in a balance patch).
And buffs for older collab heros are needed considering the ridiculous powercreep in this game
"we also have concerns about power creep"
Yeah, the list of the latest heroes they've released—especially the ML5s, which are harder to get—suggests otherwise.
Hypocrisy at its peak.
