This game is really well done [3]
No joking, its scary how well this is done.
Theres something called "dark psychology" basically its the study on how to manipulate/control human behavior.
Gacha games, like E7, are know for using this kind of... science, with kind of well known patterns, some obvious like the slot machine effect, FOMO or powercreep, or others a bit subtle like currency obfuscation. Lets not forget that one of the things a gacha game wants the most its your time, even in a developers note video they blatantly admited they designed E7 with that in mind, I think it was when quick battling was first introduced.
So, what about this game?
Look, I can understand all the skills that the boss have (like mines following you, drowning the screen, shooting, getting faster if its near you or even teleporting while using certain skills or directly shooting and destroying part of your progress) but the following are the things that are the problem:
- You lose while reaching 80+ progress: I decided to leave this while reaching 88%-87% quite a few times in the Rohana pic, in more or less hour and a half (consuming more time in the game while trying, one of the dark patterns, although I must admit I include reading the story up to until Aube starts touching Birgitta with the "applying oil" pretext, E7 stories used to be interesting, but Im not reading this, and reaching 90% in Aube pic.)
- One thing I learned while playing gachas its to spend the currency asap in what I want, before wasting it in a stupid way, in my case its to refresh the secret shop for pulls, the stupid way... paying 80 skystones out of frustration, probably you can think its stupid to complain about wasting those skystones if "its your decision", the problem its, while suffering from stress, people can act without thinking for a couple seconds... more than enough time to press "continue". So yeah, good thing I didnt had skystones at hand, I would had regretted those two or tree seconds after loosing too many times and... "almost getting it" yep an other dark patter: "next time for sure, I was so close".
-"Hidden rewards": You get the basic reward with 80% of progress (really easy once you get how to move) buuut for the ""amazing"" reward you need 90%, and I must remember you... you lose once you reach 80% + so... you couldnt get it? sure just give us almost 3 times of the skystones you got before? you dont have it dear customer? go to shop, but quickly these rewards will expire in a few weeks. I must be wrong in this one, but this pics arent going to the story journal? usually I tried to keep up with it, but personally Im not loosing anymore time with this.
-""Amazing rewards"": look... I feel a bit tired of oversexualised gooner designs, look what they did with Illinav's skin... from a warrior to pole dancing, but we are talking about this game so... what about the reward? finally you got it, despite wasting hours, skystones or both. what did you get? more skystones so you can use them? a piece of equipment? maybe a couple pulls?... nope... you get a pic of Auble worried because her swimsuit its to small or Rohanna in a pose that couldve used in a NSFW game, imagine you playing while someone enters in a room and see the screen, like Fenne's screams... this game doesnt let minors to play? they should rate this +18 in the appstores, like an other user said earlier. I really miss then end of chapter 1 and the beggining of chapter 2, while the only thing we knew about Straze was about that he was the black knight that was causing troubles in the "rotten land" (Cidonnia's name back then)
-You are giving too much credit: "Cant believe you wasted time writing this crap and that I lost time reading this, this game is amazing/bad (choose one) and dont play if you dont want to" One of the most dangerous people are the ones who can manipulate you without you even suspecting it, and of course, I gave up in this, not wasting my time in gooner things.
-I didnt mentioned mort/crozet pics because I didnt think they are worth mentioning up until now, I must admit I chuckled when I saw them the first time, but theres a limit on how a joke can be funny until it becomes annoying.
tldr: despite E7 still having the reputation of being f2p friendly they still have quite predatory habits, and little by little they show them. Dont forget they tried to hide hero's skills behind imprints a while ago, or how they made the mystic rotations last 3 weeks instead of 4. Personally I wont be playing anymore, the time vs rewards dont worth it to me, if you like it, go ahead, just remember that if the event its "sucessfull" they will keep with this behavior, someone remembers the rhythm game from last couple years?
As funny fact, I tried CZN... they implemented the imprint system there lol

I did the mini game. It’s not hard. Just kill the boss and you get an easy 90%
I haven’t played the mini game yet, however, I have played this game since 2019.
-Firstly, you’re forgetting how inconsistent the ML5 release schedule was for the first two years. Sometimes it was 5 weeks, sometimes 8, 7, 4, 3, it was random. In 2020 it was standardized to one every 6 weeks. That was 6 years ago.
-Second, E7 has been a gooner game since day 1. Old Mercedes s3, Yuna s3,F Maya, Luna, R&L, the list goes on. It didn’t suddenly become one.
-fourth, the Ily skin isn’t great. If they really wanted a bunny girl there were better picks, her base art is also good so idk why they chose her.
Fifth, I really don’t understand why you chose to criticize 4 out of the 52 calendar weeks of E7 content when there’s so many other more pressing problems than our yearly month of fanservice.
New gear sets and otherworldly breach is a big one. They’ve been giving us new gear sets quite often and they design new heroes around those sets, some more blatant than others.
This wouldn’t be a big issue if you could choose what sets to farm from breach instead of being forced to do rift. Rift feels way worse these days
