Equipment Tip: Be Picky! [2]

Hello New & Returning Heirs, just wanted to give you a tip for you equipment: Be Picky! Don't be willing to invest in a piece of equipment just because it completes an equipment set you really want. The go-to saying for this is "stats over sets", and it will save you SO MUCH gold and time to only choose what actually has potential. Now, what should you be picky toward? That breaks down into 2 main things: SPEEED and the main stats on second-half equipment (neck, ring, and boots)

First point is speed, because it RUNS this game, unless you have high-end units and amazing equipment to build a tank team that can really weather the storm, and even then it can still be picked apart (Straze, Blue Hwayoung and Green Lilibet being a few of the units being used for this). As such, the name of the game is to make virtually every unit as fast as possible without neglecting their core stats. Every piece of equipment (except boots, which I will cover in a minute) should have speed as a substat, and as high as possible  (speed should be within 1 of the piece's level, preferably equal to). In addition, the ones that meet this minimum standard should be leveled up to 9, to see if it rolls into speed at least once (preferably twice+). If it does not, sell it, it's garbage. That will give you a great start, as if everything outspeeds you, you'll never get to do anything before dying, and all the damage capacity in the world won't help if they put you in a box during your first breath.

The second point is to manage your main stats on your second-half gear - your neck, ring and boots. All of this equipment, unlike your first-half equipment,  have variable main stats, unique ones that provide a LOT of power to your unit.

Starting things off, NEVER take a main stat that a first-half piece has, so no flats of Atk, Def, or HP. If you need those stats, they offer percentile versions that will give massively more of a boost to that stat than flat stats will. Afterwards, only go with those percentile stats if that piece's unique stats are unnecessary, as those unique ones are the best boost to those stats in the game, full stop.

Necks are incredibly important to your damage dealers, as they offer the crit duo, chance and damage. Of these 2, honestly chance is largely missable, as critical chance is easy to accumulate elsewhere to 100, while damage's 350 cap can be much harder to hit without this help of this piece. Therefore, I would rank c.dmg and then offensive stat% for damage dealers, or hp%/def% (whichever helps more) for supports, with everything else being largely useless.

For rings, they offer effectiveness, which allows anything not pure damage to be done to the enemy, and resistance, which is the defending counterpart to effectiveness. Healers and defensive supporters (ones that focus on empowering your team) resistance primarily,  followed by defensive percentiles (hp/def), then effectiveness if they have any debuffs to offer, and trash the rest. Damage dealers and offensive supporters (ones that focus on debilitating and withering the opponents) should focus on offensive stat% and effectiveness, prioritizing the one that works with their playstyle more, with resistance significantly further down the list (unless their name is Spirit Eye Celine or Commander Lorina, in which case it tops the list), and trash anything else.

Finally, boots - there is no discussion here - they can have speed on main. Make them have speed on main. Full stop. 45 additional speed in one shot is unmatched, so do it. Trash anything not speed. The end.

I know this is a lot of information,  so the tl;dr is always max speed, and always match the unit with the best possible main that can be provided on the second half of equipment. Your equipment dictates what your unit can do, so the more subpar your equipment is, the more subpar your unit will be. Don't do that, aspire for greatness,  don't let garbage waste your gold and hold you back.

Happy playing, and go for victory!
