RTA MMR system is so weird [8]
Today, my friend (Gold Rank) fought an unranked player whose peak rank is legend. I would assume that they should have an insanely high MMR or something. However, he was only awarded 9 points after winning. I know it is because the other guy was unranked, but the reward is not worth it imo.

I don't remember how the scoring system worked, but 9 pts is good for having been a Gold vs Unranked player, I understand that against them you receive fewer points since they don't belong to any classification. Also keep in mind that their legend record is worthless in RTA's, it can help you to know if they have or not exp playing or a good gear, but it does not affect in any way when playing. Everyone will receive the same points depending on who they face and the victory/defeat. What was achieved before is a merit, there is no bonus or anything. So don't worry, it's normal bro 😎👍

What MMR? it's a new season and that person hadn't done their placement yet.
You either never do RTA and are posting nonsense for a "friend" or you legitimately think this is a hidden MMR FPS or something which is wrong.
Everyone starts from the bottom. It was probably one of the guys first matches as he went from projected bronze to silver to gold etc.
It doesn't matter what his previous ranks were. He had won enough placement to be equivalent to that rank for that match. He doesn't have some hidden legend MMR. By that logic he would never fight anyone but legends in placement. Things don't work that way and don't for any game with a ranked reset because nobody earned it yet and queues would be ridiculous. Your MMR is your points. That's it.
RTA is a ladder reset. There is no issue.
Hey man, I know that there is no issue. I'm just saying that the ranking system is weird; that is all. Furthermore, I do not get why you are offended by this. I already said that he is currently unranked, so it is normal that I would not get rewarded as much. It is just an observation; that is all. What is wrong with not knowing stuff and posting to get an opinion?

most competitive online games have a PERMANENT mmr that doesn't ever reset when a new season starts.
