Magna and counter mechanic [2]

Although counter was recently buffed and now is able to crit, it is very underwhelming for modes like nebula distortion and tower of screams where enemies deal heavy single hits and/or get a power increase after x number of turns, and have large HP pools.

This means that in most cases, magna is doomed to a single counter hit where you need to block all dmg to make it worth, but the only card in the entire game to retain shield and be able to achieve this  has exhaust 2, which means that for long fights or multiple waves like tower of screams, it’s very hard to keep up and be able to clear these stages.

I think there are 2 ways to balance the counter mechanic:

  1. Make use of the maximum # of stacks; I think counter should be enabled through an upgrade and the combatant should react to all incoming hits, however, the dmg would be based on the number of stacks, and then halved or removed (a bit similar to how agony was reworked). 
  2. Make blocked dmg count! Considering how Maribelle is able to deal huge hits by stacking shield, I think magna should be able to deal back some of the dmg blocked (thus, people would build decks around the upgrade card that enables counter against hits, dmg blocked, counter stacks, etc.)

I understand that Magna could be considered low priority since she’s a standard unit with zero ROI, so maybe these mechanics could be integrated into a new rate up combatant?

While it's true Counter atk dmg is a bit weak, I believe it's intended since character with counter atk mechanic could also generate shield. 

They are more like a turtle where you clear the stage slow but steady.

And they are good in Spiral Tower but probably worse everywhere else because of Dps check.

You could also try to increase Counter dmg by using Morale buff. For Tower, Dominion is your best card.

I don't have Magna so can't really tell but from looking at her card epi, it's more like she is focused on debuffing enemies with vuln and generating counter passively.

Try to pair her with Maribel/Narja. This game is 3-person party, try to look at synergy between the 3 not just individually.

If anything, they should remove the "shield gained cannot exceed 20% Max HP".

I'm using this team to safely clear Tower.

Counter for sure need some more buffs, maybe extra DMG based on the DMG taken would solve It, or even shield generation, Idk, but ATM, the only way to make counter okayish, is using an Ambush Nine
