Item Randomness in New Season Fatigue [9]
So with the new season we can now reroll epiphanies, but they also added a bunch of super powerful items, at least I feel like the average power level of s2 items > s1 (as long as you have the chars to use them).
Not to mention Arena refine and God hammer. My problem is we have very little way of influencing which items we get during the run. With shop rerolls down even with max upgrades, getting the right items for even one character has become a huge struggle. I've done about 20 high level chaos runs and I have ONE barely decent set of saved data (epiphanies + items) for ONE character. I've gotten Rage Potion ONCE out of 30 something runs.
My suggestion is this: Anytime you get the chance to procure an item, we should be given multiple options, just like picking epiphanies. Waypoints, elite monsters, should at least give us two options like boss monsters. And bosses should give us three. Moreover you should get AT LEAST the ability to preview the God's Hammer upgrade, so you know which character to put it on, better yet make it like the arena refinement where we get 3 options + preview.
Imagine making this new God's Hammer system and you spend 40 minutes clearing a high level chaos only to get an unusable upgrade for a character. No better way to make you feel like you just wasted a bunch of time. You might've had a decent saved data run up until that point, but when the God's Hammer upgrade is futile it makes you not want to use that saved data. It doesn't really make you want to rerun Chaos either, all that work and saved data building just to roll for one RNG at the end....
Like I get it devs, you want us to have a reason to binge the game for hours when we can. But did you not learn anything from S1 players' feedback? Making the perfect saved data statistically require hundreds of Chaos runs through RNG is going to bring on player exhaust and fatigue. Did you think giving us epiphany rerolls and then switching the RNG fatigue over to item procurement and item upgrade options would be any better?
I was so excited for Nine and the new season, but after 3 days I'm already kinda done. Just going to log on and do my daily. 30 something runs and Pale eternal flame once, Rage potion once...like I can't even get a good set of saved data for Nine much less a team.
I think the Devs are a little too paranoid about people not having a reason to play the game for long hours. They DONT want you to just log on for 10 minutes and leave. But this isn't the way to do it, guys. Making time spent in the game feel REWARDING (without hurting your bottom line, of course) is the only way, don't punish us by forcibly trying to extend play time through RNG inefficiency. You're making time spent on the game feel UNREWARDING. Nearly 30 hours spent grinding for one set of good saved data and I can't get it. You think we really don't have any other options for our entertainment? You think we've signed some kind of exclusivity agreement with CZN? C'mon guys. Don't be difficult to your players on purpose.

1. No, Their function as protos is to be able to move and locate themselves and the agents within chaos, at all, And you can go back in time, in addition to coordinating the battles. The game's story does a poor job of making you feel useful, but if you stop to think about it, you'll see that it's a very important function
2. Revealing random events would completely remove their randomness, which would be strange, and you don't predict the future, you only have a kind of map; there's no way to guess what will happen at a specific place + normal campfires are pretty usefull, either be It for stress healing, training ( some normals are neat ) or rerolls
I agree that God's Hammer should have the ability to at least preview the buff.
I also have an idea that might help with the randomness:
- add new option to "Campfires" (but NOT to the "Delang Shop Campfires") - let's call it "Scout" or "Concentrate" - where Protos can scout ahead and reveal few [?] events that are still in front of the party.
Think about it:
- it even fits the lore - you are useless Protos that have just ONE task to locate the position of the Chaos Core - scouting during rest fits nicely.
- it could either be free action, cost some credits or cost some of those time units that are used for rerols (balancing required)
- it could reveal let's say 5x random [?] event nods up ahead so if you have promising build and need to hit that specific event, this increases chance of finding it (ammount - balancing required)
- it would make normal "Campfires" more usefull
@Bweet they CAN sinergize really well actually, since Nine can play arount exhausts using her Hew (Flash), you'll play around her ignition ( for this setup, im using Nine + Tressa, they do pair well specially with de exhausts giving you honed edge stacks, with the right epiphany on her upgrade ) and either use someone as Cassius or Rei, who can give you some card draw and provide sustain, Rei is specially good there, cause she can exhaust a Lumen Spore ( thats a common card ) and Draw 3, then 2, then 1 + her own draws, still, ATM, Nine best support is Orlea
Honestly I think it's fine for the randomness of item option because some of their combination could be really OP for only 20 point for 2 mods.
You definitely don't need such perfect combination especially when you can clear content easily now with the rework of faint memories and zero system.
Just 1 option is already a big boost. Getting 3 right option easily ? 😅
My Narja already give a lot of shield with just this option alone, what if I could get the extra heal & shield boost easily ? Probably won't be farming until season 3 starts.

Anyway, I haven't seen any nine+luke combo guide. Have you tried making them work or do they simply not synergize well?
nah, its not that bad, you have alot of control over your save data, since you have epi. reroll and can nail down the dupe RNG to ONE character, that alone heavily increases your odds, theres increased chance for epiphanies and divine epis too, yeah, god Hammer can be weird sometimes, but its not the end of the world, yes, to get one specific modifier, to get the BiS, theres alot of RNG, BUT theres a diversity of mods that work really well, and If they dont, 10FMP isnt the end of the world; do i think the system need improvements ? i do, 2 options on elite fights, 3 on bosses, and maybe 2~5 options on god hammer would be great, but It doesnt mean its as bad as it seems just cause youre not geting that perfect save data you saw online
I haven't do chaos for a while, haven't even finish the story lol. Did the randomness end up really bad? I might drop the game if that's the case, I play too many gacha games rn 🤕
I think your suggestions are good and would like to see them implemented. Also the hammer feels even more odd cos it adds 10 memory points (as any item imbue) and can even come with downside, like the one that will make your attacks cost 1% of life and create 60% fixed shield. I ruined a perfectly good memory with it
i agree in parts, disagree in most of them; but, one point you've made that's good, is that elites should give at least 2 item options, and god hammer could also give some, i think between 3 and 5
