Hello, Future Editors-in-Chief! This is Diving Studio, the developers of . We sincerely thank everyone who participated in the previous 1st INDIE BOOST LAB. Using the valuable feedback left by our Editors-in-Chief as our compass, we have spent the past period refining the game with an even sharper pen nib. In particular, for this 2nd test, we are proud to present a comprehensive overhaul of the story and a renewed newspaper environment (UI). Here are the three core changes in compared to the 1st test. โ‘ [Story] A Comprehensive Overhaul with Added Historical Weight The biggest change lies in the depth of the story and characters. This demo version deals with the 'Flogging Decree (็ฌžๅˆ‘ไปค)' as the main theme. Two Reporters: Breaking away from the previous setup, two reporters with distinct beliefs and personalities now stand at the center of the story. [HistoryReport] Hidden history report

When it comes to the independence movement, people tend to be interested in Korea, Manchuria, or the Shanghai Provisional Government.Korean people or the independence movement within Japan tend to receive less attention. It would be interesting to appeal to this by utilizing the fact that the main character is a student studying in Tokyo. For example, the February 8 Independence Declaration, a preceding event to the March 1st Movement, was an event that took place mainly among Japanese students at the time. The main character did not participate in the event, but there were people involved among his student acquaintances. As a result, the Japanese police are keeping an eye on him.Later, those student acquaintances ask the main character to publish an article, and it would be nice to have the feeling that the main character is at a crossroads.

Japanese colonial era when taxes were levied even on 'telephone poles and puppies'โ€œEven with just two or three rooms, the tax is several tens of jeon, even if you plant just a few bundles of tobacco, the tax is several hundred pun, and even if you catch just one pig, the tax is several nyang. Incident Period: 1914~1919Location: Baek San Trading Company in Jung-gu, Busan โ†’ Baek San Trading Co., Ltd. after the March 1st MovementKey Figure: Baek San Ahn Hee-jeContent: On the surface, it was a typical capitalist's company, but in reality, it was active in the Yeongnam area and raised 60% of the Provisional Government's independence funds. It was a channel through which the Provisional Government's Independent Newspaper was distributed domestically, and it published the Declaration of Independence during the March 1st Movement. It seems that they were able to escape the surveillance of the Japanese Empire by appointing a different person as president and through meticulous disguises."Planning a task is up to the person, and accomplishing it is up to Heaven. [HistoryProof] Visit to Busan Citizens Park History Museum
๋™์˜์ƒ ์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

Busan Citizens Park, the largest park in Busan, located near Seomyeon, Busan [Busan Citizens Park]After the demolition of the Hialeah U.S. military base, which was located in a huge size, it was transformed into a park.It is a popular place for Busan citizens to take walks, exercise, and have picnics day and night. In addition, there are various auxiliary facilities such as concert halls, art galleries, ateliers, museums, and book cafes, so tourists often visit.I usually use the walking path, but I have never set foot in the historical museum, so I will take this opportunity to visit it.It seems that there are not many people due to the cold weather. If you follow the road in the first photo, you will see a unique white building that looks towards the park, that is the historical museum. The entrance is somewhat simple, but it seems to be to preserve the form of the building, and the interior is surprisingly large. The first place you see upon entering is in the form of a gallery and mainly deals with the history after the Korean War.For the purpose of today's visit, I will skip this part. After passing through the gallery, the space changes and begins to deal with the history of the Japanese colonial period. It is well known that the Busan Citizens Park area was the site of the U.S. military's Camp Hialeah. You can see that it was used as a horse racing track, an entertainment facility, and a military facility for war during the Japanese colonial period before the war.You can see many traces of the Japanese Empire's ambition related to wars such as World War II and the Sino-Japanese War, It seems that this Seomyeon Racecourse was used as a complete military facility for transporting and storing military supplies in the later stages of the war.As Busan is the closest outpost to Japan, You can see that Busan citizens at that time were also mobilized for various military facilities and unwanted wars of the Japanese Empire. The large plains next to Seomyeon were used by the Governor-General of Korea to secure tax revenue and raise war horses, and after the Korean War, the U.S. military took over.It took 100 years for Busan citizens to be able to walk around here without any concern after going through a painful history.Personally, it was a historical museum that I might not have had the chance to visit. It was a meaningful time to be able to visit through participation in Indie Bootstrap.

An Gyeong-sin's Pyongyang Bombing- On August 3, 1920, during the operation of the Korean Liberation Army to infiltrate the country, there was an incident in which bombs were thrown at the South Pyeongan Provincial Office and the Pyeongan South Provincial Office in Pyongyang to appeal for the necessity of Korean independence. At the time, Ahn Gyeong-sin carried out the major event for independence despite being pregnant. Unlike other members who defected to China, Ahn Gyeong-sin, who remained in Korea, was eventually arrested and became the first female activist to be sentenced to death.References:Kim Yeo-jin, โ€œA hot record of an unfamiliar nameโ€ฆ Filling the void of the independence movement,โ€ Kangwon Domin Ilbo, dated February 24, 2023. https://www.kado.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=1170794Oh Byeong-doo, โ€œIndependence Hall of Korea selects Ahn Gyeong-sin as Independence Activist of May,โ€ Global News Communication, dated May 4, 2015. https://www.globalnewsagency.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=35678

[HistoryReport] Niigata Prefecture Korean Laborer Massacre

I learned about this incident while watching the movie "Park Yeol" and researching Park Yeol's activities.Niigata Prefecture, Japan in the 1920s They were building the largest hydroelectric power plant in the Orient, mobilizing 600 Korean workers and 600 Japanese workers in Shinanogata, and it is said that Korean workers who could not withstand the harsh forced labor were killed and thrown into the river.Park Yeol, who organized the Black Wave Society in Japan in 1920, heard the rumors and infiltrated with members of the Black Wave Society to investigate and announce the atrocities.According to the investigation, Korean workers worked close to 17 hours a day (4 a.m. to 9 p.m.).At the time, the Dong-A Ilbo also dispatched a special correspondent to cover the incident, so I think it would be good to deal with it in the game with the setting that a reporter infiltrates and investigates and covers the story through undercover employment.Reference materialsEncyclopedia of Korean Culture - Niigata Prefecture Korean Laborer Massacrehttps://encykorea.aks.ac.kr/Article/E0013392Namu Wiki - Park Yeolhttps://namu.wiki/w/%EB%B0%95%EC%97%B4

[HistoryProof] Visiting the birthplace of independence activist Park Cha-jeong
์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

When I was in high school, I knew that there was a birthplace of independence activist Park Cha-jeong near the school. Why didn't I think of visiting here back then? It's been over 10 years and I'm finally visiting.Park Cha-jeong's birthplace is located in Boksan-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan.Park Cha-jeong was also from the Righteous Brothers, and is also the wife of Kim Won-bong, the head of the Righteous Brothers. In front of the birthplace, an honorary road name called Park Cha-jeong Road is also given. The birthplace comes out when you go inside, and there is a large site in front of it.Park Cha-jeong's two older brothers were also independence activists. The life of the eldest brother, Park Mun-heeThe life of the younger brother, Park Mun-hoAnd there was a monument with the life of Park Cha-jeong.A caricature of Park Cha-jeong is also on display. And it seems like they've created a photo zone.If you go inside, you will find Park Cha-jeong's birthplace. It is said to be a patriotic facility designated by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. This is the view of the birthplace.Composition of the left roomThis photo seems to be a photo of the event when the statue of Park Cha-jeong was built.Composition of the right roomSince it is a birthplace, it does not have a fancy appearance, but I think it is a place where you can check the life and achievements of independence activist Park Cha-jeong and commemorate her spirit. It was a short moment, but it was a meaningful time. The Busan Independence Movement Memorial Hall is scheduled to open in the first half of 2027, and when it opens, I plan to visit and take time to check the history of the independence movement in Busan.

[HistoryReport] I'm going to write down some of the incidents that happened in Gunsan.

1. Iyeopsa Farm in Gunsan demanded 75% of the tenancy fee."In November 1927, the fields of Okgu, Gunsan, were filled with wails instead of the joy of harvest. This was because Iyeopsa Farm, founded by Japanese landlord Kumamoto, committed the outrage of raising the tenancy fee to 75%. They appealed to the law, but what came back was arrest and torture. So, the farmers picked up clubs instead of sickles to protect themselves."You know how big 75% is without me having to say it.First of all, to summarize the beginning of the incident, they asked for a reduction in the tenancy fee, but in reverse, they committed the crazy act of raising it. In response, the police arrested the tenant farmers, and the farmers picked up sickles. It's a protest. Of course, it didn't end well. The timing was like that, so of course...2. Rice grade drop incident at the rice inspection station.Of course, the rice grade was an important factor in the price of rice, but at that time, rice was divided into grades 1 to 5 and ungraded. And the Japanese mostly took out grades 4 to 5, or ungraded. The reason is simple. It's a resale. These rice grades were raised again in Japan. First, the price of rice was intentionally lowered in Joseon, then the price was measured, and then the price of rice was received again. So how much did the Joseon people get? This incident caused a great backlash to the point where people said that the Japanese ruined the farming for a year, and in the end, the farmers picked up sickles.I think food is as important as clothing, shelter, and food, so I'm reporting this. The most important dwelling is already taken away, so we have to protect the food.So even that situation could not be protected.

[BugReport] Screen resolution related setting error
๋™์˜์ƒ

Personally, I use two monitors side by side, and when I press the full screen button, the full screen is not on the main screen, but on both monitors. [If you connect two monitors with a screen resolution of 1920X1080, in a normal game, when you go to full screen, only the main monitor area of 1920X1080 is full screen, but in this game, the 3840X1080 area is full screen.]Also, the address bar was still on top of the game screen, so it was not displayed properly. However, it worked with ALT + ENTER, which is a function to force full screen, but I thought it should be fixed. (If you go to full screen with ALT ENTER, it will only be full screen in the 1920X1080 area normally. The address bar is also hidden normally.)

[BugReport] Resolution related
์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

If you press full screen on this screen...It changes like this. The changed window size is 1920 (approx.) * 2000 (or more, unknown) I am currently using two 1920*1080 monitors arranged vertically, with the bottom one as the main. The screen resolution size looks like 3840*2160 resolution.Additionally,1. Even if I set the window screen to 1176*664, etc., and exit,When I restart, it returns to a 1920*1080 window screen.2. If I exit from the bottom monitor, which I use as the main, and restart, the resolution option in the settings window shows up to 3840*2160.If I exit from the top monitor and restart, it only shows up to 1920*1080.3. When running the game, it starts in 1920*1080 windowed mode because it's an FHD monitor, but the bottom is cut off and not visible by as much as the title bar at the top of the window takes up (doesn't interfere with playing the game). Also, when playing the game, I feel like about 1 pixel is missing on the left (feels like the resolution is 1919?) (may not be true).I'm spending all my time testing instead of playing the game. ใ…œใ…œ

์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

The source is the book <Then and Now - Humanities Today Read Through 100-Year-Old Newspapers> (2016, Greenbee).I think that light sub-content is needed in abundance, besides the heavy main content related to the independence movement. This book contains many articles from the 1900s, but I recommend it as a production reference.1. The customs of love and marriage during the Enlightenment period- In the 1920s, free love was introduced in earnest, and Confucian ethics began to waver.- A new fashion called Modern Boy and Modern Girl became popular, covered in detail in newspaper articles.- Hollywood movies were introduced and popular music also spread.- Companion suicides also occurred because of love (such as Yun Sim-deok and Kim Woo-jin of 'Hymn of Death').- Dating new women, and divorces increased for economic reasons.(From the movie 'Modern Boy')2. 'Keyboard Battle' of writers in the Enlightenment period- This is a critical battle in literary magazines, not a newspaper article, but it is a possible story in newspapers as well.- A reader with the pen name 'Jewol' criticized a novel written by Kim Dong-in's acquaintance, and Kim Dong-in attacked this person personally (a person who can't even write a novel...) and dissed him.- Disses continued in various pages such as 'Jewol's critical value', 'Responding to discussing my critical value', 'Responding to Jewol', 'Words to Mr. Kim', 'About criticism', etc.- Later, Jewol eventually writes a novel and debuts with 'A Frog in a Specimen Room'... in other words, his identity is Yeom Sang-seop.- In 'A Frog in a Specimen Room', a character named Kim Chang-eok, modeled after Kim Dong-in, whose family collapses and his wife runs away, goes crazy.* Yeom Sang-seop was also a political reporter for the Dong-A Ilbo! It would be nice to have a writer and reporter appear.Add) When decorating the newspaper page, it would be nice to have advertisements from that time attached as well. (The more the newspaper company grows, the more advertisements are attached)You can refer to the Naver News Library and process the images.I don't think there will be any copyright issues since it was 100 years ago.

[HistoryProof] A story from the distant future.
์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

Haemang Tunnel is famous now, but in the past, it was just a passageway. There isn't much history revealed here.Location: Haemang-dong 1000-21, Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province. What happened here is that it is a place where the sorrow of the Joseon people who were digging this tunnel remains.Jo Yong-gwan, a labor activist, was the one who tried to solve it together. Of course, in the future, it was used for other purposes and suffered.Let's leave that to the pain of the future. This statue is the Okgu Farmers' Anti-Japanese Resistance Monument. The statue itself was built very late, and it didn't exist back then.Location: Seosu-ri 1085-1, Seosoo-myeon, Gunsan-si, in the front yard of Impi Middle School. It's at the entrance....The history here can be said to be an extension of the history of March 1st. To be exact, the Japanese committed the crazy act of taking 75% more rice from Joseon at a rice mill operated by the Japanese. The historical fighters fought against that line. This statue was built really after that, June 17, 1995, around the time I was born. There are many famous historical facts, but people don't really know about it...

[HistoryReport] Two newspaper articles

I've brought two interesting articles from the January 2, 1922 edition of the Dong-A Ilbo on the same page.1. Incident of spreading anti-establishment propaganda from the first day of the new yearLink: https://newslibrary.naver.com/viewer/index.naver?articleId=1922010200209203005&editNo=1&printCount=1&publishDate=1922-01-02&officeId=00020&pageNo=3&printNo=492&publishType=00020The content is about the Governor-General ordering the seizure of propaganda and searching for the culprit after anti-establishment propaganda in Japanese, following congratulatory greetings wishing a Happy New Year, circulated from the first day of the new year. There is room to find the person who printed or distributed the propaganda, or to find out people's reactions to the propaganda, so I feel like it's a good fit for this game.2. An act of cutting and transplanting one's own skin to cure a burn on the leg that made the younger sibling's gait uncomfortableLink: https://newslibrary.naver.com/viewer/index.naver?articleId=1922010200209203006&editNo=1&printCount=1&publishDate=1922-01-02&officeId=00020&pageNo=3&printNo=492&publishType=00020While playing this game, various types of articles came out, such as international affairs, internal policy announcements, personnel changes, public service campaigns, incidents, and advertisements, but I didn't see some content that would often appear in newspapers, such as heartwarming stories or obituaries, perhaps because it's a demo version or because I can only use the front page.Skin grafting had successful cases in the 19th century in medical history, but attempting it in Korea in the 1920s would not have been easy in terms of concept or technology, so I posted this in the hope that there would be at least one such heartwarming story.

[HistoryProof] The origin monument of Gwangbok Village on the promenade of Gwangju Green Road Park
์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

This is the origin monument of Gwangbok Village in the Gwangbok Village Road section of Green Road Park, a promenade that I often walk on, which was created in the 1970s for independence activists and their descendants. Now, redevelopment has been steadily carried out, and many apartment complexes and commercial buildings have been built around the promenade, and the remaining houses have also been remodeled as owners change, so the original form of Gwangbok Village here can no longer be found. However, the fact that Gwangbok Village was here will remain in the origin monument and the names of the surrounding roads that you encounter while walking along the promenade. It is gradually being forgotten over time, but it feels like a trace of the independence movement that can be encountered in everyday life.

[HistoryProof] Introducing Majangji in Pohang. ([Public Interest/Certification] Covering History Around Us")
์ด๋ฏธ์ง€

Majangji is located in Changpo-dong 557-1, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do .Near Majangji, there is a church, hiking trails, and it is a good place for a walk. The reason for covering this place isbecause of the historical location of Majangji.Pohang Majangji is known to have been created during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945) as an agricultural reservoir, that is, an irrigation facility. At that time, Japan built reservoirs, waterways, and reclaimed land on a large scale throughout the country to expand rice production, and Majangji is a facility created in that flow. The name Majang is a Chinese character meaning a space related to horses, and there is an interpretation that in the past, this area was a terrain related to horse breeding or training, or it was a name given in the process of organizing Japanese-style place names. Later, as the pond was created, the name Majangji became established.During the Japanese colonial period, Majangji served as an irrigation reservoir supplying water to the surrounding farmland, and was used for the purpose of improving agricultural productivity in the food exploitation structure. In this process, it has the characteristics of a typical colonial agricultural infrastructure that reflects Japanese civil engineering technology and linear waterway design.Even after liberation, it was used as an agricultural reservoir for a while, but as the city expanded, it is now maintained as a citizen rest area and ecological park, and its function has been converted. In summary, Majangji originated as an agricultural reservoir created during the Japanese colonial period, and can be seen as a place that has been reborn as an urban park on top of its historical traces.
