[PvE/PvP] [Guide] A Complete Analysis of the New Mastery 'War Drum'

Complete Analysis of the New Mastery 'War Drum'From PVE Area-of-Effect Farming Setups to Large-Scale PVP Combat OperationsNew Mastery added in the Lord Nine 2nd Anniversary Update War Drumis a ranged magic weapon with a musical instrument concept. According to the official introduction, the War Drum performs a support role, assisting allies in PVE content like raids and multi-target PVP environments, and has a structure where it gains a unique resource, Rhythm, to trigger enhanced skills. It is difficult to view it simply as a "healer" due to the high proportion of area-of-effect skills, and it is not a pure dealer either, as it possesses many utilities such as ally support, healing, movement assistance, vision obstruction, fear, and grab. Therefore, it is most accurate to understand the War Drum as a support-type sub-dealer capable of area-of-effect farming.Table of Contents1. War Drum Core Mechanics2. PVE Strategy (Low-to-Mid Combat Power / Beginners)3. PVP Strategy (Basic PVP Direction)4. Recommended Setup Summary5. Advanced Strategy for High-Spec / High-Combat Power Players6. Conclusion - Who should and shouldn't use the War Drum1. War Drum Core Mechanics1) Short Range, Mid-Range PositioningAlthough the War Drum is a ranged weapon, its range is known to be about 6mbased on community measurements, so its operational feel differs from weapons that deal damage from the very back like typical ranged dealers. (Bow - 9m / Staff, Crossbow - 8m)Therefore, in PVE, you need to operate by drawing monsters in to some extent and using area-of-effect skills, and in PVP, a mid-to-rear position between tanks and ranged dealersis more suitable.2) Rhythm SystemThe core of the War Drum is Rhythm. You gain Rhythm by using skills, and when 3 stacks are accumulated, you can enhance the next skill. It is known that an aura appears around the character when 3 Rhythm stacks are met, and Rhythm is consumed when using an enhanced skill. In other words, the War Drum is not a weapon centered on basic attacks, but a weapon that continuously cycles skills to build Rhythm and utilizes the timing of enhanced skills. This is why cooldown reduction, casting speed, and MP sustainability are important.3) Caution with Manual Skills during Auto-HuntingThe War Drum has skills that target "designated allies." Such skills often do not function properly in auto-hunting or only have meaning when allies are nearby. For example, some of the spiritual bond series are valuable in PVP or party play, but their efficiency may drop for auto-hunting.Therefore, when auto-hunting, it is important to set up mainly with unconditional attack skills, auto-usable healing/buff skills, and short-motion area-of-effect skills .2. PVE StrategyPVE Basic DirectionThe core of PVE for the War Drum is Area-of-Effect FarmingBased on community and video summaries, the War Drum is rich in area-of-effect skills, and operation centered on these skills is highly recommended for actual hunting setups. Its advantages shine especially in hunting grounds with high monster density, such as the Tower of Walls, Labyrinth, and Shadow Forest. However, the War Drum has high MP consumption due to its heavy reliance on skills. If you just use area-of-effect skills blindly from the start, your mana may run dry, reducing hunting efficiency, so you must look at damage skills + sustainability + MP managementtogether.2-1. Recommended StatsThe basic stat direction currently mentioned most often is as follows.Prioritize investing in INT 45 / DEX 45 → then supplement with LUK around 35Since the War Drum is a magic attack-based weapon, it is highly recommended to prioritize INT and DEX, and then invest remaining points into LUK to supplement secondary stats. However, these stats are closer to recommendations based on current user testing. Adjustments are needed based on your own equipment, avatars, accuracy, MP sustainability, and hunting ground difficulty.2-2. Early Single/Stable Hunting SetupIn the early stages, it is difficult to acquire all area-of-effect (AoE) skills due to a lack of trait points. At this time, it is better to prioritize investing in skills with short animations and high efficiency.Recommended SkillsSound Wave [Augment]It has a magic attack and magic damage increase effect, so even though it is a single-target skill, it helps improve early hunting efficiency. It is a skill that establishes a damage foundation in low-level sections.Roaring Explosion [Rift]This is one of the core attack skills for War Drum. Community guides frequently mention using the Rift line to gain AoE capabilities and sustainability.Rhythm Riding [Ensemble] or [Noise]Ensemble is a recovery-type skill that can be used automatically, helping with sustainability, while Noise is often praised for its short animation and good hunting efficiency. Consider Ensemble if you need stability, and Noise if you want to increase hunting speed.Earth's Pulse [Serenity]Serenity is used as a buff-type skill that increases attack speed and casting speed within the area. If the auto-hunting range is set too wide, the efficiency of the area may drop, so it is considered to have good synergy with narrow-range hunting around 10m.2-3. Mid-to-Late Game AoE Hunting SetupThe true strength of the War Drum is revealed in mid-to-late game AoE hunting. In hunting grounds where monsters gather well, it is best to cycle through various AoE skills to build up rhythm and deal massive damage during the enhancement skill timing.Recommended AoE Skill CompositionRoaring Explosion [Rift+]It has high priority in terms of AoE conversion and sustainability. It can be seen as the core skill that creates the basic AoE loop for the War Drum.Rhythm Riding [Noise]Its strengths are its short animation and fast rotation. Since the War Drum needs to use many skills to utilize the rhythm system, the value of skills with short animations is high.North Wind of the Desert [Whirlwind]This is an AoE skill that pulls in monsters over a wide range. However, because the range is wide, it may hit monsters that are too far away, causing them to return to their original positions or resulting in damage loss, so efficiency varies depending on the hunting ground terrain.Eardrum Rupture [Wealth]This is an area-based damage-over-time skill, which is efficient in dense hunting grounds where monsters stay for a long time. The fact that the duration increases when enhanced also fits well with AoE hunting.Final Solo [Impact] or [Exhaustion]Impact is used in hunting setups for its attack speed and casting speed support, while Exhaustion is mentioned as an option to utilize its short cooldown. You can consider Impact for pure damage and Exhaustion if you want fast rotation.Earth's Pulse [Serenity]It is very useful for fixed-position hunting in narrow ranges. However, efficiency may drop in hunting grounds where the character frequently moves out of the area.2-4. Is Echo of the Battlefield a must-have in PVE?Based on the official description Echo of the Battlefield: Chaos is a skill that deals damage to the area around the caster, blocks vision, and has channeling. The problem is the channeling and long animation. In user testing, there are many evaluations that Echo of the Battlefield reduces auto-hunting efficiency due to its long animation. Therefore, it is safer to exclude it from basic auto-hunting settings, try using it manually in places where monsters are very dense, or compare the experience efficiency in your own hunting ground before including it. To summarize:Auto-hunting default: Recommended to excludeManual hunting in dense mob areas: Can be adopted after testingPVP/War: Vision blocking and channeling can be utilized2-5. Recommended PVE AbilitiesWar Drum is a weapon with high MP consumption where skill rotation is crucial. Therefore, abilities should not only increase damage but also MP sustainability and skill cyclingmust also be considered.Based on current test summaries, in a 3-minute hunting experience comparison, the efficiency is mentioned in the order of Venom > Mage / Blitz Blade > Hunter Venom has good pure hunting experience efficiency, and Mage is a good alternative as it has recovery support effects in situations where MP is lacking.Recommended Direction1st Priority: VenomRecommended when prioritizing area-of-effect (AOE) hunting efficiency. When MP is lacking: MageIf mana runs out frequently, supplementing sustainability with Mage rather than a damage-focused setting may result in better actual experience efficiency.Solid Alternatives: Blitz Blade / HunterCan be selected based on the growth status of your owned abilities. However, this recommendation is intended for F2P/low-spending users who are growing in the early stages with War Drum or have low combat power/specs. High-combat power, high-spec paying users will grow just fine even if they just take the War Drum into a hunting ground with their existing settings. Still, if I were to make a recommendation, I would suggest the popular abilities for high-combat power users: Eater of Orbs (AOE hunting) / Moonlight Keeper (Over-farming).3. PVP StrategyBasic PVP DirectionWar Drum is not so much a 1:1 trading weapon as it is a battlefield supporter that saves allies and breaks enemy formations in large-scale battlesIt is closer to that. In the official introduction, War Drum is also described as a support role that assists allies in large-scale PVP environments. Therefore, the core of War Drum in PVP is not kill-catching, but the following three things:1) Protecting key allied dealers2) Breaking enemy formations3) Controlling the flow of battle through fear, restraint, vision blocking, and movement assistance3-1. Recommended PVP PositionWar Drum does not have a long range, and many of its important skills are tailored for mid-range combat. Therefore, it is neither a tank position that holds the front line nor a ranged dealer position that only deals damage from the very back. The most suitable position is the mid-to-rear support line.It operates by assisting with movement speed and formation disruption when the allied melee line advances, and by using recovery, grab, and cleanse-type skills when an allied dealer is caught.3-2. PVP Key SkillsSpiritual Bond [Salvation+ / Cleanse / Restraint]According to the official description, **Spiritual Bond: Salvation+** is a skill that pulls a designated ally in front of you and restores their HP.This skill is highly valuable in PVP. This is because you can pull and save an allied key dealer who has been caught or a tank who has gone in too deep. Cleanse-type skills can be used to remove harmful effects, and restraint-type skills can be used to control enemies.Pulse of the Earth [Imbalance]According to the official description Pulse of the Earth: Imbalanceis a skill that creates an area around the target and pulls them toward the center. In PVP, this skill is the core variable for War Drum. It gathers enemies into one place, creating an opportunity for allied AOE dealers to deal damage. While its efficiency in hunting might be ambiguous, it is highly valuable for breaking formations in large-scale battles.Final Solo [Fear+]According to the official description, **Final Solo: Fear+** deals magic damage and inflicts fear in a straight-line range. If you aim it at the enemy's entry line or rear dealer line, you can disrupt the flow of battle. In particular, if you link it after gathering them with Pulse of the Earth, you can significantly shake up the enemy formation.North Wind of the Desert [Tailwind]Based on official description This skill is used for engaging, retreating, and repositioning. In large-scale battles, positioning is more important than damage, so the movement speed buff is highly noticeable.Echo of the Battlefield [Chaos / Suppression / Protection]Echo of the Battlefield features area damage around the caster, vision obstruction, and channeling. In PVE, it is polarizing due to its animation, but in PVP, it can be used for vision obstruction and area control. However, since there is a risk of being interrupted or caught while channeling, rather than using it on the front line, using it safely behind the allied line is recommended.Eardrum Rupture [Dizziness / Wealth]Eardrum Rupture: Dizziness is valuable for PVP as it mentions hit/evasion reduction and vision obstruction effects. Wealth is used more in PVE due to its persistent area damage, but it can also be used for pressure in PVP in narrow combat zones.Rubber ReinforcementRubber Reinforcement is mentioned as a support skill that grants attack speed and movement speed increases to allies. However, since it does not apply to the caster and is only meaningful when nearby allies are present, it is better viewed as a party/battle-exclusive skill rather than for solo hunting.Additionally, in the July 1st update, the War Drum Mastery skill Rubber: Reinforcement's hit stacking phenomenon was noted as fixed, so the bug-like efficiency seen in past videos may differ from the current state.3-3. PVP Passive Operation PointsWar Drum is a weapon whose PVP value increases as passives are leveled up.Based on user analysis, the level 58 passive helps with sustain through recovery in crisis situations, and the level 68 passive reduces skill cooldowns at regular intervals to facilitate skill combos. The level 90 passive, Remnants of the Fallen, is summarized as having a significant impact on PVP combos as it provides health recovery for allies and self, status effect removal, and 3 rhythm acquisitions during status effect situations. In other words, rather than a weapon that is completed from low levels, War Drum is closer to a late-game support weapon whose PVP performance increases significantly as passives and cooldown reduction settings are acquired.4. Recommended Setting SummaryFor PVE Auto-HuntingGoal: Area hunting, sustain, MP stabilityRecommended Skills:Roaring Explosion [Rift+]Rhythm Riding [Noise] or [Ensemble]North Wind of the Desert [Whirlwind]Eardrum Rupture [Wealth]Final Solo [Impact] or [Exhaustion]Pulse of the Earth [Serenity]Sound Wave [Augment]Caution: Echo of the Battlefield has a long animation, so exclude it from auto-hunting and test it.Core: Short animation area-of-effect skills + area damage + rhythm enhancement cycleRecommended Abilities:Venom: First, consider Mage if MP is insufficientFor PVP / WarGoal: Protect allies, disrupt enemy formations, CC chainRecommended Skills:Spiritual Bond [Salvation+ / Purification / Restraint]Earth Pulse [Imbalance]Final Solo [Fear+]North Wind of the Desert [Tailwind]Echo of the Battlefield [Chaos / Suppression / Protection]Eardrum Rupture [Dizziness]Rubber ReinforcementOperation Tips:Do not charge to the front lineProtect ally dealers from the mid-to-rear linesGather enemies with Earth Pulse, then follow up with Fear and AoE damageSave Spiritual Bond to save key ally charactersUse Echo of the Battlefield from a safe position as it carries channeling risks5. Advanced Guide for High-Spec / High-Combat PowerWhile War Drum can be fun for AoE hunting even at low combat power, its true performance shines in high-spec stages. The reason is simple. War Drum has low reliance on basic attacks, and most of its performance comes from skill rotation and rhythm enhancement timing. In other words, the key for a high-combat power War Drum is not just increasing magic attack power, but creating a setting that allows you to use skills more frequently, more stably, and for longer.5-1. The core of a high-spec War Drum is 'Cooldown Reduction + Global Cooldown + MP Sustainability'For high-combat power, cooldown reduction and global cooldown reduction efficiency are crucial for War Drum. This is because you need to use skills frequently to build rhythm quickly and use rhythm enhancement skills more often. If a typical dealer values "one-shot damage," for War Drum, skill rotation speedis equivalent to damage, survivability, and party contribution. Therefore, high-spec users should prioritize the following options.Cooldown ReductionGlobal Cooldown ReductionCasting SpeedMP Recovery / MP Consumption ReductionMagic Attack PowerSkill DamageSurvival-related optionsEspecially in PVE auto-hunting, the moment MP runs dry, AoE hunting efficiency drops significantly. Even with high combat power, if your MP maintenance setting is lacking, the War Drum's advantage of spamming AoE skills will be interrupted, so it is important to ensure skill rotation stability alongside simple attack power.5-2. High-combat power PVE is based on 'Mobbing Efficiency'A high-spec War Drum is more efficient when dealing with multiple monsters in a dense area rather than quickly taking down a single monster. Therefore, high-combat power users should not just look at the recommended combat power when choosing a hunting ground, but also consider the following factors.Monster DensityMonster Respawn SpeedCharacter Movement PathWhether to maintain area-of-effect (AoE) skillsFrequency of missed AoE attacksEXP efficiency relative to MP consumptionSince War Drum has many AoE skills but each has different skill motions and ranges, rather than just choosing the highest-level hunting ground, a hunting ground where mobs cluster well and the character moves lesscan yield better efficiency.Especially when using area-type skills like Earth's Pulse [Calm], it is better not to set the auto-combat range too wide. If the character frequently moves out of the area, you cannot properly utilize the attack speed and casting speed buffs, which diminishes the advantages of a high-spec setup.5-3. For high-combat power PVE, 'Enhanced Skill Timing' is keyIn low-combat power sections, simply pressing skills on cooldown is sufficient, but in high-combat power sections, it becomes important to decide which skills to use your rhythm enhancement on.Rather than wasting the enhancement effect on any skill when 3 rhythms are stacked, it is better to use it on skills with good AoE efficiency, skills that increase area duration, or skills that directly affect hunting stability. For example, in situations where many monsters are gathered, use the enhancement on AoE damage skills, and in hunting grounds where stability is lacking, use it on recovery/sustain-related skills. In summary, PVE operation for a high-combat power War Drum is as follows.Build rhythm quickly.Use enhancement effects on core AoE or sustain skills.Adopt long-motion skills after comparing EXP efficiency.Adjust area-type skills along with the hunting radius.Increase the number of AoE skills as long as MP does not run out.5-4. High-combat power PVP is closer to a 'Battlefield Architect' than a 'Dealer'The PVP value of a high-combat power War Drum does not lie in getting many kills directly. Its true strength lies in breaking up enemy formations, saving allied core dealers, and creating timing for team fights.Especially in large-scale battles, the value of skills like Earth's Pulse [Imbalance], Final Solo [Fear+], Spiritual Bond [Salvation+ / Purify], North Wind of the Desert [Tailwind] increases significantly.A high-combat power War Drum can take on the following roles.Gather enemy formations into one spot to create timing for allied AoE damage.Apply fear to enemy entry lines to disrupt the flow of team fights.Pull and save allied core dealers who have been caught.Support allied movement speed to create entry and retreat timing.Disturb the opponent's backline with vision obstruction and debuffs. In other words, a high-combat power War Drum is closer to a key player who sets the stage for guild battles rather than a "character who gets many kills."5-5. High-combat power PVP setting priorityIn PVP, survival options are much more valuable than in PVE. Since War Drum must use skills at mid-range, it has a higher risk of being hit than a pure backline dealer. Therefore, a high-combat power PVP setting is more stable when focusing on a direction that allows you to endure and cycle skills multiple times rather than just increasing attack power. The recommended priority is as follows.SurvivabilityCooldown reductionGlobal cooldown reductionCasting speedStatus effect resistanceMP sustainMagic Attack / Skill DamageEspecially in large-scale battles, surviving once more to cycle through your skills again can contribute more than raw damage output. This is because core skills like Spiritual Bond, Earth's Pulse, and Final Solo can change the outcome of a team fight just by being used one more time.5-6. Points for High Combat Power Users to NoteJust because you are a high-spec War Drum user doesn't mean equipping every skill is the right answer. Since War Drum has many skills and diverse roles, you must separate and manage your skills according to the content. For PVE auto-hunting, it is better to reduce long channeling or manually targeted skills and focus on short-motion AOE skills and sustain skills.Conversely, in PVP, skills with low auto-hunting efficiency gain value. For example, the Spiritual Bond, Battlefield Echo, and Earth's Pulse imbalance series have more significance in wars than in hunting. Therefore, high-combat-power War Drum users should at least have the following two presets separated.PVE PresetFocus on AOE hunting, MP sustain, short motions, and EXP efficiencyPVP PresetFocus on survival, CC, cleanse, grab, formation disruption, and ally protectionFor high-combat-power users, what is more important than gear specs is distinguishing "which skills to remove or add for which content."5-7. Final Evaluation Based on High SpecsAt high specs, War Drum is not just an AOE hunting weapon, but a late-game mastery that gains presence in both PVE and PVP.Especially in high-combat-power segments, cooldown reduction, casting speed, MP sustain, and survival settings determine the performance of the War Drum rather than simple damage. As the settings are completed, Rhythm Enhancement skills can be utilized more frequently, and AOE hunting efficiency in PVE, as well as ally care and formation disruption capabilities in PVP, are greatly enhanced. In PVE, as cooldown reduction and MP sustain are secured, AOE hunting efficiency increases significantly, and in PVP, as passives and utility skills are secured, you can act as a key supporter in guild battles. However, in low-combat-power segments, the experience might feel ambiguous due to MP shortages, low basic attack efficiency, and long skill motions. Conversely, in high-combat-power segments, these disadvantages can be compensated for with gear and settings, allowing the War Drum's strengths—AOE skill rotation, Rhythm Enhancement, ally care, and formation disruption—to truly shine. In conclusion, War Drum is a mastery structured to become stronger the higher your specs are. Users who prioritize cooldown reduction, casting speed, MP sustain, and survivability over simple attack power can expect to be top-tier in AOE hunting for PVE and a key variable creator in large-scale battles for PVP.5. Conclusion - Users Who Should/Should Not Recommend War DrumRecommended UsersUsers who enjoy AOE huntingUsers who participate frequently in party play and warsUsers who prefer supporter-type variable creation over simple damage dealingUsers who can set up cooldown reduction, casting speed, and MP sustainUsers who plan to grow long-term, looking forward to late-game passivesUsers Not RecommendedUsers who want to push through quickly with single-target damage from the startUsers who don't want to change settings often while leaving auto-hunting onUsers in low-combat-power growth segments lacking MP management settingsUsers who want a weapon that secures kills directly in 1:1 PVPFinal ConclusionWar Drum is not just a new weapon, but a mastery with a quite unique position within the Lord Nine combat structure. In PVE,  AOE hunting and sustainare key, and in PVP,  ally protection, formation disruption, and battlefield utility like fear, vision blocking, and cleanseare key. However, since it is a weapon with low reliance on basic attacks and high importance on skill rotation, efficiency may not meet expectations if MP sustain and cooldown settings are lacking. Especially in auto-hunting, if manual target skills and long channeling skills are equipped incorrectly, efficiency drops significantly. In summary, War Drum isan AOE supporter-type mastery whose presence grows in both PVE and PVP as settings are completed, rather than a mindless auto-hunting weapon for the early game.If you only look at hunting, focus on AOE skills; if you also look at wars, operating around Earth's Pulse, Spiritual Bond, and Final Solo will best bring out the strengths of the War Drum.

[PvE/PvP] Who came up with the 6m range for War Drum? Use ability skill, walk, use skill, use ability skill, walk, use skill... what a trash character.

No, the ability skill range is 7m, so it should at least be 7m. The skill animation is slow and terrible, and you have to walk while using skills, use skill, use ability skill, and walk. It's an endless loop. Is this a melee or ranged character? They really made this character weird. At the very least, if it's ranged, the range should be the same as the mobs. It's so frustrating to have to walk a step every time I kill a mob.

[PvE] War Drum PVE Guide

For armor, use a cloth set. For pickaxe options, resonance is recommended, or if your stats are low, attack/critical/mana recovery is good. For the skill tree, focus on area-of-effect skills (excluding Echo of the Battlefield - stationary casting is trash). For abilities, I recommend using Time Reversal as a base, combined with abilities that include cooldown reduction stats (Moon Keeper, Erosion Eater, Gladiator, etc.).

[PvE] War Drum Strategy Event Participation

War Drum is great because Accuracy increases as Mastery grows, allowing you to focus on stats other than Accuracy for Artifacts and Mounts.Since Accuracy also increases as a base stat, abilities like Hunter/Blbl/Str are all good, but Venom is also fully viable. For skills, I mainly use Sound Wave Tuning+, Roaring Explosion Rift+, Rhythm Ensemble, Desert North Wind Whirlwind, Final Solo Impact, and Eardrum Rupture Vertigo.

Single-target is truly hopeless Since I'm a new server user, the veterans from the old servers say the Ore Corruptor is the answer, butIn the case of new servers, Mage or Striker are the only answers. AoE seems fine.

By utilizing the class characteristics that allow for area-of-effect hunting,it seems like a good idea to choose Striker as an ability class, as it can use skills frequently, and since it is not a tanky type, rather than over-farming, you should select appropriate hunting grounds and focus on growing by killing many mobs quickly to gain experience.

Daily hunting should focus on area attacks.Recommended Skill Build (Master First):Roaring Blast: Rift+In Rhythm: NoiseNorth Wind of the Desert: Whirlwind+Final Solo: ExhaustionPulse of the Earth: Imbalance+Not Recommended Skills:Echo of the Battlefield: Currently, the stationary casting time is too long, making it very inefficient. [PvE] This is a guide.

War Drum is good for its AoE + buffs and cooldown reduction, so1. Ability - I highly recommend the Oruchim Eater.2. Moonlight Keeper - This is excellent for gaining reputation through daily quests or doing high-level quests, and it's essential because it improves sustainability.

PVE recommendations areSound Wave RedRoaring Explosion BlueRhythm Riding GreenEcho of the Battlefield Yellow (It is fine to use without investing stats)North Wind of the Desert Blue Final Solo BlueA hunting range of 10 is sufficient, and  it is better to disable counterattack when hit. Since the range is quite large, there are cases where enemies hit from afar and then move back.

[PvE] Strategy

It has a long range and the advantage of having many area-of-effect skills. When switching to a supporter, you must click on each guild member individually to prevent them from dealing basic attacks, so that they can be used as a healer, and I recommend the Archbishop. + In general hunting, it is also good to use Spiritual Bond-Salvationand Battlefield Echo-Restoration.
